Was wondering how many people struggle when you know a loved one is sick, or even hospitalized? How do you cope with being apart knowing their is very little you can do, and the many restrictions you face?

Well, I haven't been in this situation just yet.

But if I were, I'd feel like both my arms had been cut off...
I'd put my nurse hat and my thinking cap on at the same time, and try to devise something amusing.
I would definitively write even more than usual... If that's humanely possible !

Then I would try to 'let go' of the things I cannot control, and support my pp through this. By letting go I do not mean "not caring" or "forgetting"... I mean finding a way to cope, really...

the only thing i can tell about this issue is my pal in the polunsky has broke a boon in his feet and walks with it more than a half year right now and what can i do about it.....just nothing!!

I have a pal who is sick right now and it breaks my heart that I can't speed up the medical process or get him the attention he needs. All I can do is encourage him to be strong and keep him in my prayers.

I agree with Skye, get well cards, notes of support. Even if you live in the state where they are there is little that can be done.

I have to say that is the most helpless feeling I have had since I had to hold my child down to have stitches put in. My wife has had to go for a mammogram twice now, a sonomgram, and a biopsy since she has been there. Each time she tells me what is going on I hurt a little more, sadden a little more, and feel like the most helpless creature on earth.

AngelBear, i think for me the feeling of helplessness is the hardest one to over come. I try and look at it in a different light so i do not struggle so much, but no matter, it comes back the same.

Smiley, thank you very much, I appreciate that. I can tell you, not only has this situation brought about a new found love for each other but has also opened both our eyes to the Lord. We have both always been believers but this has caused us to really take a look at our lives and really strengthen that bond between us and God.

When Joseph is sick I feel awful! He tells me how horrible he is feeling and it just breaks my heart that I can't do anything
