Correspondence Chess with Prisoners is a recent organization bringing together citizens and prison inmates together for correspondence chess games (chess played via postal mail) for 2009. Our online inmate database will be live in a few weeks, where your loved one's information will be provided for our users to write and set up games with. We have successfully linked over 50 participants so far this year, but we have more interested citizens than inmates right now. It is very hard to find interested inmates, and we are seeking your help in letting us know your loved one desires to play.

zacharyrs,what a novel idea, hope it works for you, why not try contacting somebody in the local/nearest prison , maybe chaplin, governer, someone like that, or try and get something in a prison newspaper(not sure if you have them there, but we do) advertise or get a large garden chess set , bring it to your nearest prison , sit outside with a friend, and play..just make sure its not raining,
your gaurenteed to get noticed, but i hope that its not illegal to do that there, spontanaity(bad grammer) is a great thing, well best wishes, and i hope you do well

The best supplier of inmates wishing to play chess has been parents and family members. Anyone working in the system doesn't have time for issues of this kind

well as the old saying goes "if @ first you dont suceed, try,try again", i wish you all the best of luck with your idea, anything to make life a little more bearable while there is a good thing, i dont really know what else you can do, but the greatest advertisement in this world is word of mouth, maybe on that point, can you make a poster/advert and send it to the people who are playing now, let them show it to others?, i know your a non profit org, but you might be able to add something on the poster that you can charge for, to try and cover your cost of doing this...
