Thanks Peanut for your kind message. This thing scared the wits out of me. I am now confident that it was all a stupid mistake on my part. I feel much better and a good rest will take care of all...Thanks again.

Elric, what youīre talking about would i name as the DPīs preventive impact, better said the societal impact she should have. The question is simple: has she really a preventive impact ? I have some doubts about. When DP as a "law tool" would have a preventive impact, then would it mean, that the number of executions in those states where DP is allowed to use would have to decrease as a result of the impact DP has there. Is this the reality ?

DP like abortion will always be a highly split area.

Look at the flip side will you get in ones face who has Just lost a child to brutally ravaged raped orally etc to be graphic, and tell them they should not have the DP available for one or ones are comletely guilty??? Do we as an human society have the right to say no DP for them?

With abortion, for or against, are you going to say a teen or women who was brutally raped, lived thru it but was now pregnant, tell her no choice you have to carry thru with the pregnancy?? Do we have the right to invade her body and mind again as the rapist did?

Should there not be exceptions allowed in either scenario some murders are so heinous past murder in actuality so insanely carried out???

Sometimes it makes one wonder who is really being barbaric??? Needs to be re-evaluated.

I agree Peanut. The dp is much like abortion as far as exceptiond being necessary . This will always be a heated debate.

It is best to remember we are all entitled to our beliefs and opinions
and we have to accept that not everyone will agree with what we as individuals believe.

My comparision of DP with a pregnancy was only with the intension to say: you canīt be "a bit pregnant", you are or you are not. In my eyes is it with DP the same, you are pro or against. I condemn no-one for being pro, itīs everyones right to have an own opinion. We only try to have a polite discussion about this topic to see who the better arguments has.
Thereīs no relation with abortion or reasons for a pregnancy or something like this in our discussion.

Peanut does make a valid point. Abortion is like the DP in the aspects of it being a split subject.

I am not really for or against the DP, except in certain cases I support it. So yes, you can be neither for nor against it and believe it should only be used under special circumstances.

Your belief may be otherwise, and that is fine, we are both entitled to those opinions and beliefs.

This is not about abortion, but the connection in my view is, neither can be a complete stand off and line drawn in the sand with no middle ground.
That causes wars, hate more cirminal acts and never an answer to the reality of all.

Exceptions have to be a part of any strongly divided issue. Some laws have to change, those who are placed on DR and never killed anyone themselves for example.

Also they are both heated topics, was my comparison and both need exceptions. Both need a middle line..

In the case of this thread, they tried to execute this inmate, they failed, so I believe for "him" now it should be LWOP to natural death. (some inmates find that would be worse then DP too)

My thoughts and opinion.

My thoughts and opinion.

It all depends on the inmate.

Christoper Simmons received the DP and his Co-defenadnt, Charlie Benjamin received life.

When the USSC overturned juvenile executions based on the plight of Chris. There were many media reports.

While Chris fought so hard for life, Charlie would have rathered seen sentenced to death.

Just some food for thought....
