Hello Andreas, thank you for sharing your general measurement in as to whether one is for, or against DP. “It´s like a pregnancy, you are or you are not”, ha ha, sorry I couldn`t help that.

As much as I enjoy your comments on the issue of Capital Punishment and the fact of your pride in Germany`s Article 102 of the Grundgesetz – I made a point of reading the Article – and can fully understand your position as it relates to Capital Punishment. I hope you don`t mind that I post just a paragraph of Art. 102 of the Grundgesetz, for I think it holds the key to your position, with all due respect to your country my friend, and of course to you.

Why Did Germany Abolish the Death Penalty?

It's common knowledge in Germany that the inclusion of Article 102 of the Grundgesetz (Basic Law), which abolishes the death penalty, was motivated by disgust at the excessive use of the death penalty in Germany by the National Socialist regime. During the twelve years of Nazi dictatorship, over 30,000 death sentences were handed down -- in addition to the mass extermination directed at 'undesirable' populations…..

Andreas as envious of Germany`s Article 102, that I may be, I have to acknowledge the sad History of your country that triggered this Basic Law. It is good for mankind that Germany has learned from its mistakes. In this country my friend, these type of atrocities and barbaric killing have been in existence for hundreds of years, and they continue to be popular. It was even suggested not long ago to have
a public execution on Televison, to educate the citizens of this great country of the free and the brave. A federal law in this country was enacted to speed up the executions of condemned prisoners by language in part: 'Effective Death Penalty Act" which forbids most of the condemned to seek court redresses of their stated innocence, and in effect bring them closer and faster to their deaths.

My friend you are barred, by laws in your country that demands -- that you to be against the ultimate punishment. I see Article 102 of the Grundgesetz as the key, that pushes you toward the humorous "being pregnant or not" mentality. I could not have said it better myself.

Well... I know I won't be the 'popular one' here.. but I do believe in execution for certain crimes.

The problem is that many capital cases should not have been tried as such and there are some cases that are so heinous and the offenders are too dangerous and even deadly that I feel there is no other option.

But it is my opinion and I am entitled to feel it is necessary in some cases.

I believe in the death penalty for murder.

I feel that if a person murders, they have killed a being made in the image and likeness of God. Also, that if they are a murderer, they need to be executed as an example to others of what NOT to do and that there is a line that society cannot cross without death. There has to be a point where society says, NO MORE.

Im just curious, you say you believe in the death penalty for murder, so would you want someone who gets in a car drunk that runs someone down and kills them executed, in my mind that action is just as bad as if someone goes to a shopping mall with a gun shooting it off willy nilly, yet if you kill someone with a car drunk you can be out in just a few years, make no sense to me how its all worked out,

Im confused on the whole subject, on one hand i do think some like child rapist/killers, mass killers should be executed, but then i wouldnt want them to have peace in death, its a never ending subject that i dont think will ever be seen eye to eye on,
this will sound more barbaric than the death penalty but if i were in charge, the victims family would get 30 mins alone time with the killer, if he survives he gets to do LWOP, which in my eyes is worse than death, if he dont survive then oh well.

I believe you're more Pro then UKGal. 30 mins alone with the family of a victim you say? That would be a death sentence

God is NOT a factor in the death penalty, at least shouldn't be. "Judgement" is not the force behind the death penalty...rather punishment. Seperation of church and state ensures this. Last time I checked God was still more powerful than the penal institution in the United States. I am probably the most "politically conservative" member on WAP and I do agree with one thing said. I don't agree with some crimes being punished with the DP and some not. I don't beleive in the death penalty in ANY case!

OT but Sorry Number cruncher you just lost your "conservative credentials" with those statements sorry coild not resits .
You are talking about That pesky "piece of paper" called the Constitution .

Actually those types are not conservative at all the correct word is fascist .

Who ever has the idea IVs are not painful to have put in or are not uncomfortable or unnoticeable clearly does not know what they are talking about . I suppose if you are already unconscious you wont notice them . Though they have been know to wake people who are sedated when being inserted .

I sure noticed them the last time I was injured and needed surgery and they were very painful to have inserted .

I personally do not like or agree with the stance, it's all or nothing in any area of life including were the DP should apply or not apply.

All or nothing no seperation of limits, (do understand seperation of church and state only) but is not feasible in the justice system as a whole in sentencing level of crimes and punishment.

Rolando my friend, it´s not wrong what you wrote about what has had an important influence in context with my attitude against DP. After WW II have the allies learned our nation one important thing: to respect the human life. The abolition of the DP was a logical step on that way. To respect the human life is a bit more than only this abolition, i guess you´ve read the sections 1, 2, 13 and some other sections of our Grundgesetz. You´re right i´m proud to live here and to feel safe in this country and that none of our neighbours has to fear us.
To come back to DP, imagine this crime, when a qualified nurse would kill his elderly patients by lethal injections (we had such cases in the past). Which injection would be more cruel & barbaric, those the nurse has given or his own lethal injection ? The results are the same that´s why i think both are cruel & barbaric. The right way is when the society punishes without harming the human life and dignity. Justice will be done and also the need of the victims (relatives) becomes satisfied.

Andreas I did not overlook your interesting response to my comments to you. I read it at a time when I actually thought I was dying. I had this misfortune of mistakenly applying some stale and old spray deodorant after my morning shower that unleashed an allergic backlash that produced screaming red sores all over my chest and were spreading towards my face...I got so paranoid not knowing what had produced this horrific allergy accompanied with pain that I thought of even writing my last will!!( Well, actually it was not that serious).

Yesterday my daughter who is a registered nurse told me what had happened(as I am telling you here), and I even scratched plans to see a doctor because according to my daughter, whatever I may be prescribed by a doctor must include pain killers for the pain. I refuse to take any type of drug into my body, so I will wait this allergy to leave just as it came, in due time.

So I am fine my friend. I look to continue our discussion as I still have to tell you some interesting personal observations with respect to DP. But in the meantime, I will just jump back into bed and try to sleep this pestering itchings on my body away. I apologize for the delay in this response.

It is just that the appetite for our discussion on DP is a bit on the weak side at this time, even my mental motor has taken a hit. But we can pick it up soon.
