My brother is currently in County Jail being charged with Capital Murder. I want to know as much as I can about the system and what I or my family needs to do to make sure that things are being done correctly and nothing is overlooked. I need to do everything in my power to make sure he gets a fair trial and to save his life.

Any support or advise you have to get through the process to help save my brother’s life and keep him off the row would be appreciated

Get a good attorney is all I could do, someone who knows the judge and knows what is going on.

Merrill is right the first thing you should do is find a very good attoeney who is "death qualified " You can use the ABA site and another one called Martindale to help you in this .

If you can find lots of law books you can go online and search sites such as Amazon to start . Try searching legal text and add state of Texas . You also should get all the possible information in TX criminal code . This is justot begin with .

Capitol Cases are very complex and all too often the advice given elsewhere is flat out wrong . Taking legal advice from some one who is not a attorney is a good way to do a lot of harm and end up in prison or on death row . Also it is never good to make public any active criminal or civil litigation if you are a defendant in particular .

It is OK to ask where to seek help from a skilled qualified attorney not much more than that. Despite what is stated elsewhere there are very skilled attorneys in TX and in all 50 stats es as well as territories who are very capable of defending some one who is face the Death penalty or any capitol case .

You can also try Texas Defenders they handle death penalty case .
