I found the following while reading about my other thread on silverstein, it appears he was also in a supermax on 23 hour lockdown when he managed to stabb the guard

Friday, 10 August, 2001, 17:45 GMT 18:45 UK America's most dangerous prisoner?

BBC News Online's Chris Summers investigates the case of Thomas Silverstein, a man considered so dangerous he has been isolated from the outside world for 18 years. Thomas Silverstein is often described by the authorities as America's most dangerous prisoner.
In the six years after he was jailed for armed robbery in 1977 he killed two fellow inmates - and stabbed to death prison guard Merle Clutts. He was cleared of a third murder.

Silverstein's pictures appear on Mr Earley's website

At the time, the murder of a federal prison guard was not a capital offence and Silverstein was sentenced to life in jail - the maximum term available.
After the murder of Mr Clutts, in Marion penitentiary in Illinois, he was placed on "no human contact" status.
Silverstein, now 49, spends his days in a specially-designed cell deep in the bowels of Leavenworth federal penitentiary in Kansas.
The lights are allegedly kept on 24 hours a day for security reasons.
Guards refuse to talk to "Terrible Tom" out of respect for Mr Clutts.
At the time of Mr Clutts' death, Silverstein was one of the leaders of the Aryan Brotherhood (AB), the most powerful white gang in the US prison system.
Silverstein's victims
22 Nov 1981: Robert Chappelle of DC Blacks gang
27 Sep 1982: Raymond 'Cadillac' Smith, leader of DC Blacks.
22 Oct 1983: Merle Clutts, prison guard

Silverstein has always claimed Mr Clutts had been persecuting him but the prison authorities said he should have raised his grievances through the proper channels.
At Marion he was held in his cell for 23 hours a day but he took his one opportunity to kill the guard.
As he returned, handcuffed, from the shower block Silverstein walked over to chat to an AB friend, Randy Gometz.
Gometz suddenly produced a stolen key and unlocked Silverstein's cuffs.
Silverstein leaned through the bars and pulled a shank (improvised knife) from Gometz's waistband before stabbing Mr Clutts 20 times.
After the murder he was moved to a special cell in Atlanta, Georgia, but was freed by a gang of Cubans during a riot in 1987. He was recaptured - traded in by the Cubans - and moved to Leavenworth.

So, I don't for one minute think mill and boon, oops bingham and mills are gone for good, locked up with key thrown away, silverstein is, so why not the other raving lunatics, plus that would put an end to the groupie followers and fan clubs, wouldn't it???

They are all now at the ADMAX under no human contact since their multiple murder trials in which the all received multiple life sentences they are never getting out and merely exist which is fine with me . If you look at the dates on the articles they are a few years old . Yes LWOP and no human contact or limited contact depending on the person and their history of violence will limit the fans and gruopies dramatically and help get on with prison and justice reform manipulative misleading websites .

For me, i will rejoice the day this topic is no longer in discussion. Because their will no longer be sanctified murder at the hands of the 36 states.

I think the DP is medieval and barbaric.

I am pretty boring with my reason for being anti the death penalty. I cannot see how killing someone to prove killing is wrong is benefiting anyone.
I also feel that if a person chooses to kill someone, they alone did that, not their mum, dad, friend or anyone else. So killing them is causing more hurt to more innocent people.
Don't get me wrong, I sympathise absolutely with the families of victims and cannot imagine the suffering but I do not feel that killing the killer will ease the pain for anyone.
That is just my opinion :-)

I believe that the DP is a justified and necessary evil. I don't have any grey areas other than we leave no stone unturned in providing the condemned an opportunity to defend themself. My biggest fear is that someone might accuse me, some day, and I want every benefit of the doubt. :-)

There clearly options for the worst of the worst that don't include the death penalty.

Too many trumped up and false convictions esp in places such as Texas.

There was a recent 48 hours program where a young man in the midwest in college was tried for raping and murdering his long time girl friend who he has been with since middle school.

The police and DA even convinced her parents he did it, went to trial, took everything the parents had, he found innocent. The cops and DA never ran prints on a condom packet found near the in the girls apartment. BUt spent a fortune in tax dollars ruining lives.

Turned out a their were prints from a perv down the street on the condom packet.

The perv was convicted of the rape murder. In Texas the boyfriend might well be on DR.
There are people who have the DP coming, but would rather just have it gone to protect those who are innocent or don't get it for political reasons.
