The union representing Royal Mail workers has said national postal strikes could begin on Thursday 22 October.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) called on Royal Mail to agree to a last-ditch "peace plan". But they said that if this failed, they would have "no option" but to strike. number of localised walkouts have already been taking place across the country over the same issues for several months.

so this will cause delays no doubt for anyone sending/receiving pp mail from and to the U.K

Happens every year around this time, one day they will blow themselves out of the water, if all PP's had access to e mail it would not be a problem, i mean those of us with PP's in texas cant even get phone calls as we are classed as international

I'm sorry for you Gerri, what about the phone calls'rule ?

It's weird because years ago, my friends from Belgium and Switzerland could phone to their pps in Texas prisons. What happened ?

I am quite new to writing to Texas prisons but my PP sent me a cutting to register for there phone service but i cannot as i don't have a US driving licence and you need those details to register for it, i have no idea why Texas prisoners cant call internationally i was willing to call him but that is not feasible so its letters now and all i can say on that is God Bless J Pay lol

Does not seem like the dispute has been resolved according to the latest updates.
So it Certainly looks like the strike is set to go ahead.

If, like me you cannot use the JPay services, there is a site called prisonpaper that is international friendly and very reliable for sending mail to US prisons, the also offer postcards/cards suitable for black people as well as an unlimited letter services for a small monthly fee.

Whilst we chew our finger nails off and kick the walls in frustration at not hearing from our pp/loved ones we can at least wait in anticipation for the extra long letters that will surely follow.

Never heard of a postal strike in the States, think its against the law.

Should be the same here in the UK, its so bad here even our emergency services can strike, but the royal mail are the worst for it
