Today the zoo keeper of Berlins world-wide known little polar bear Knut was found dead, presumably of a natural cause. It´s a really sad news for all Knut fans and Berlin people.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I think those who are able to interact with animals from the wild are very special people.

awwww I remember watching a show on BBW news about when he was born and the first public viewing of him.

How sad. crying face.

What was the cause of death?? I bet his keeper who raised him is heartbroken.

The official statement says that a heart attack has ended Thomas´ much too short life (44 years of age). Now it´s planned by both Berlin Zoos to endow a Thomas Dörflein Award (starting next year) for the best of all zoo keepers. We all lost an acquainted friend.
