I as a citizen of the US cannot vote in many states due to the radical right and their lies hate and fear mongering . I hope this election is a repudiation of the Republican party and all it has come to stand for hate racism ignorance intolerance and te ir distorted of "their version of religion", Their version of who is a "good American " .

Yes there is a lot of hard work to do . Part of leadership is inspiring people l and leading to do that hard work not lying and misleading them to give into fear and hate .
Millions of US citizens are very hopeful and sick of the past 30 years of lies and corruption to a level unheard of before

For me I recall a image of young black woman and young white make obviously a couple embracing and kissing upon hearing the news of Obama's victory that spoke volumes that is hard to understand beyond the US

ASE, you may want to check your facts as most of the countries denial of voting rights (disenfranchised) by the late 1800's/early 1900's. So, it really isn't appropriate to blame it on the "neo Cons". (You know, the neo cons, like what you called me!) I tip my hat to those who are talking about Obamas fairly earned victory because of his campaigning, views on the issues not the color of his skin. Being black, or white for that matter, does not qualify you for anything. If I supported him, I would be speaking of his ideology. When I hear nothing but his race, I can't help but think, "how far have we really come if all we can talk about is his ethnicity".

This is the time for the democratic party to shine. I hope that even if the promises made are unable to become a reality that they do what they can to get our country back on track and to make a better difference for our country.

I don't think the election was about age, or race or even history being made. This election is about americans taking a stand and making change.

Many good things have come and are yet to come out of the election.

From where we are now and having the eyes of the world on us, they have no option but to turn this ship around and head us in a better path.

I am well aware that felons (differing by state) cannot vote. ASE made th comment that was due to the republicans. The history books reveal a different reality. These laws in a majority of states date back to the late 1800's/early 1900's.

I do care if Obama doesn't meet his promises. So, when my taxes go up, all Americans don't have health insurance (two of his promises) I will sling mud just as all the left wing liberals have done with the republican party. We've got the ball...

Numbercruncher, i´m pretty aware that i as a foreigner may have a different view to an american administration as many americans it would have because i see more the aspects of foreign policy. Be sure, most european nations like America and are its friends and they like to see America as an example with a leading role in world politics. The current president was in the last eight years often enough like a bull in a china shop (in that relation) and that´s why we had difficult times. I´m sure that the new administration is able and will restore Americas standing and reputation. It will take some time but it will happen. Remember former presidents Bush senior and Clinton what they have done for Americas reputation, remember those pictures when americans and russians destroyed their weapons of mass destruction, was it wise and worth to be seen as an example ? Yes, it was. And what´s happened now ? Is it planned to station new rockets in front of russias housedoor and has the russian president announced to station new rockets in front of europes housedoor ? Sorry, but what a kind of stupid action is that game ? No-one needs it. The keyword is cooperation, not confrontation, and an american president should be wise enough to recognize that difference. I´m sure the president elected knows that difference and will use his european partners to better the situation, without "pre-conditions". Such thinking models are simply out of time.

I have always been proud to be an American. But, today, I am prouder still. I am also very happy for Angelwithoutwings, Jesse Jackson, who was shown with tears of happiness streaming down his face, and many other blacks, or other races who feel a sense of pride and an uplifting of their spirit. I am a WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant) but that does not mean that I don't recognize the difference between right and wrong, and I know that there have been many wrongs. It would be naive to believe that this will end all discrimination, but it is certainly a step in the right direction.

Numbercruncher you must be doing very well if you think your taxes are going up and you got many tax cuts thanks to the Republicans .
That puts you in a socioeconomic group that most of us can only imagine and not every wealthy person earned it that is just absurd .
The rest of us in one way or another have to make up the difference in higer taxes on something from property to goods and services that we cannot as easily pay thus we do less and spend less . It is the middle class that drives this economy by buying and things and making or servicing them

In the end we as a people have had enough of trample down economics and a that was becoming a police state . For a party that claims to be for freedom they sure do want to legislate almost every single human behavior and the most intimate aspects of all of our lives what we put into our bodies who some can love , what religion to believe . What a woman can do with her body . Even if and when we can have sex . what political beliefs are "American" that is truly frightening .It most certainly is not freedom in any sense of the word . They are what has gone wrong with this nation .

For a small business to earn a profit of more than 250,000 all that is necessary is for them to earn more than that. Their capital exependitures, labor costs, depreciation, cost of goods sold, etc drive the rest of the tax calculation. There is no "magic number" of gross sales/income. Just like a muti billion dollar company could (and often does) show an income of LESS than 250,000. Depending on many transactions, the only thing for sure, is that for a business to have a profit in excess of 250k they must have at least that much in sales/income.

I don't make 250k, but Obama has admitted that actually in certain circumstances certain individuals making far less than that (reading between the lines here I am thinking not married and no children) will have an increase on their federal income taxes. The research I have done (coupled with what Obama has said) that individuals making in excess of (approx-this is a range) 45k-50k will pay an increase in taxes. Absurd...
