| BAGHDAD (AP) The journalist who threw his shoes at President Bush was handed over to the Iraqi military, an Iraqi official said, as hundreds took to the streets Tuesday for a second day demanding his release. Muntadhar al-Zeidi was turned over by the prime minister's security guards to face further investigation by the military command in charge of enforcing security in Baghdad, the official told The Associated Press. Al-Zeidi was initially taken into custody by Iraqi security and interrogated about whether anybody had paid him to throw his shoes at Bush during a news conference Sunday in Baghdad, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media. http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/i...er-rally_N.htm

| I'm not sure what everyone else thinks about this, if anything? I hope this man does not pay too higher price for his actions, considering the out come. I also hope the punishment fits the crime, and nothing more.

| I was laughing really hard as i saw those pictures from the press conference. Ok, it was not the right way and when it would been happen here, then he would also get a punishment, but only a fine or probation. Nearly a decade ago we had also such a case when former Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl got pelted with an egg. In Germany we would say: "It΄s not the fine english way"... |

| He is very fortunate he did not do that in the US he would be charged with very serious up to attempted assassination of the president and spend the rest of his live in federal prison federal prisners do not get parole or good time . If it had not been bush or any other high ranking official he would at least be charged with assault of some sort and face some kind of prison term in the US. That is not appropriate behavior for a journalist or any one for that matter regardless of whether we like the person he threw the shoes at or not .

| Peanut I ma serious in the US throwing any thing at the president will land you in prison for life ! The Government will charge you with attempted assassination of the president! If you throw a show at a joe average in the US you will if the cops are involved be charged with assault involving a weapon if your victim is injured it be comes aggravated assault if the injury is severe it is Agg assault resulting in serious bodily injury all are felonies in most cases and carry prison term that is how over criminalized the US is I can see if the er is a serious injury but yes it is a felony in every state. Some will consider the shoe / shoes deadly weapon ! We use the cops, courts and prison for every problem real or imagined and annoyance now .
