CARL Williams is making a bid to get his version of the gangland bloodshed into print.

The four-time convicted murderer, who is serving a 35-year sentence, is working with his former wife Roberta to get a book deal.

Roberta, who has just released her own book, said she was holding on to "explosive" material never told about the gangland shootings that cost more than 30 people their lives, the Herald Sun reports.

Williams has told Roberta he wants to give his account of how the tit-for-tat war was played out.

"What has he got to lose," Roberta said.

"He has given it to me to give to a publisher. He doesn't want any money. We're (Roberta and the publisher) in negotiations.

"I'm a little scared of what's going to be in it."
