Default The Wait

Hi guys, I may also have a silly question here. What do people feel is an appropriate amount of time to wait for a response before thinking you may not recieve one. Out of two people i wrote one has responded and the other has not. I was thinking maybe a month is a long enough time. Any thoughts would be great.

As far as i am aware all state have a different way of processing mail, some states scan them some read them, so just be patient and i am sure your reply will come soon, 2 of my PP's responded quite quickly but another PP who is in Texas takes me a while to get a reply oh and by the way welcome and happy writing

first of all
Writing an Inmate means also you have to be patient.

Tayla is right! Patience is something you have to deal with and a follow up letter to one not replied to is one solution. I wait 5 weeks if no reply I move on to someone else when I have written the first letter.

like the others said...

i didn't look to see where you were and did see what prison you wrote to, but i'd say generally 2-3 weeks at most. out of 3 letters i sent at the same time a few weeks ago, only two responded... my first reply was about 6 days after i mailed them and the second response was about a couple days after that... and both of them were from the same prison.

so yes, i agree.. patience is key. i'm not a very patient person and have found it hard when expecting my next response letter in the mailbox and it not being there. but i pull through, do something to get my mind off it, and move on.

good luck though and keep reaching out! someone will surely appreciate what you're doing and hopefully reply back.

also, i don't know if this makes a difference, but in my first few letters, i made sure to include a stamp since i didn't know if they would have access to get them.

I did wonder that but then i realise every state would be different in how they deal with there mail.

I only know here in the UK, they get it the same day it arrives there!

But a wee tip for you, some inmates may not have stamps and have to wait for them Cos i read one guys ad and it said he dont get much personal property so he has to wait to buy stamps so be patient but he will get back to you...

So i keep that it mind

I still havent got that first reply yet, but so excited
