well it should have gone out i've never had a problem usually though it takes at least 10 days to get a reply because there is no control when the prison will actually hand them out, what states you are emailing ?

i just wonder if any of t hem wil really want a pen pal or not and

as a guess wouldnt the mail go to the prisoner
a day after reciveing it?
as in, they get a ton of mail there
and then the next day they sort that mial rcvd.
and hand out.

well for instance when i write to california he dosent get it for about 10 days when he writes to me it takes them 2 days to put it in the mail and 4 days to reach me

i've just emailed my first ever letter to an inmate - never done this before. i know and understand reactions must vary depending on the person. but what's the general reaction to our emails - do the inmates really get excited and eagerly reply back?

I'm new to this,age 36 male and live in England.I received a nice letter from a female prisoner in America a few days ago.

One question about life in US jails.I've read on this site about prisoners sharing dorms and my new penpal metioned her "bunkie" in her letter as though she shares a bunkbed.
Do prisoners in the US share a big dormitory and bunkbeds rather than being in a small room on their own or with another prisoner?

Sleeping arrangements can go both ways, in prisons. Or, more than one, actually. My Texas PP was in a dorm with 33 other women. The one in Pennsylvania was in a 10' x 12' cell, with one cellmate. They had upper and lower bunks. No shared beds, actually.

Then, we hear stories about a sherriff, in Arizona, who keeps his prisoners, in a fenced in compound, sleeping on cots, in tents, where the temperature often goes above 100°, during the day, and then it is freezing cold at night.

For the most violent of prisoners, they may be kept in a cell, all by themselves. I think that goes for Death Row inmates, also.
