I guess some ppl are well versed in knowing how to "skate around" the rules, so that they are not actually breaking regulations.Some do know just how to word their letters in such away to try and get you to part with cash, without directly asking for it.

"ie seeking donations/need help to pay lawyer to start an appeal," etc etc

english Gentlemen trust me some (not all) are knowing which words they have to use for the money case or to get other things.

also ALL women locked up or not, KNOW how to get what they want from men. it would probably take a strong man thinking with his head on his shoulders not to get caught out.

You know what? This happens OUT HERE ALL THE TIME!

NOTHING......and i mean NOTHING separates those inside from all of us out here, People use people ALL THE TIME for self gain, all we can do is not only watch their words and actions, but look around see how they treat others, even inside. Take things slowly don't give $$$$ so eagerly and those who are genuine will still be around in years to come and the one's after a meal ticket will spread a net in other waters to try their luck, so will not bother you after a time. I'm sorry this happens to many, but to be honest i think in your case from little you have shared you could of saved yourself a LOT of grief in the early days.

Of course this happens also on the outside.But in another way!

A scam is a scam, and a person telling lies is still a liar.It does not matter if it's on the inside or the outside. There are those who are habitual criminals and know how to play the system, even in prison.Either because they have been in the prison system so long, or so many times they know how to get around the rules,, to some it's a game, to see how many people they can lure in and bleed dry with no care or thought for those who will fall victim.

I think the point is no one really wants to hear the truth when it comes up to what could happen writing someone who is locked up.
Of course you all know your pp through letters but it's different if you know someone through words or in real life.
And at least I'm honest if someone got used by their pp it's kinda their own fault.It always takes two persons to play a game.

True enough,that's why it pays to treat what an inmate tells with, "a pinch of salt", until you know and trust them.
