Hi,

my name is Michael and im from Europe/Germany. First i thought im the only one from Germany, but as ive seen there are others here too. I already have one pen pal in Texas and search for new ones.

As ive seen in other threads many people here avoid to write to sex offenders and pedophiles?! Also if i hate such crimes as any other do, i think specially those people need help and friends because they have the hardest life in prison and also if they come out someday should not become criminal again.

I know that many people here hate them, and maybe dont like to see that someone will also help such people, but in the end they are also humans with human rights, emotions but hard psychological problems.

I still found no way to find such a penpal (male or female) but if you have a idea how to sort the ads for those people let me know.

You made a point in your introduction.
It is good you came to this site because you are probably right, the type of prisoners you talk about are not too popular when it comes to finding penpals.
And they do deserve to be treated as a human being.

I am not sure how you can scan the ads in order to find the type of penpal you are looking for.
Maybe someone else can help you with that.

In answer to your statement, yes I agree that you're correct and the types of individuals that you mentioned do need friendship as much as anyone else. I admit that I am very new to this and just started to write to a penpal. I did some online research before I started because I wanted to avoid writing to the type of person that you mention. Not because I don't think that they deserve friendship but because I am new to this and want to ensure that I have a good foundation in correspondence and in understanding the life of an inmate, before starting that type of friendship. I think I am being sensible and thoughtful to approach it in this manner. Also I am a (reasonably!) young woman and as I wanted my boyfriend's full support in this, I knew that he would find it easier if my first penpal were someone who was not convicted of a sexual assault. After all, he is protective of me.

You are obviously already one step further along the road than I am, so feel ready to write to someone who has been incarcerated for that type of crime. I would suggest carrying out some internet research - there are plenty of sites which feature prisoners who receive no mail (most sites have this earmarked in a separate page) and there are definitely inmates listed who would be the ones that you would wish to write to.
