Mail going into and out of the Ramsey units Ramsey 1 houses GRAD is both read andscannid into a data base by STG .. They haveto do this for very serious security reasons . SOyour mail wil be slower . From what i understand offders assineged tothease units are very carefully screened due ot the nautre of GRAD andthe life anddeath risk many there take .

Mail going into other MAX Security units Such as Estelle HS which houses some gang members , Polunsky , Stiles , Clemens, Hughes , McConnell and some o the MAX security units can be slow. Polunsky in particular due ot DR being there . Due ot recent problems with DR gruopies, cell phones and other contraband on that unit all mail and anything sent from a vendor IE books is is going to be very carefully gone over .All mail going into DR is now read and copied by STG from what I understand this is a very good idea . all out going mail is also going to be gone over and copied by STG .

You can thank gangs that some one "Groupie Talk tm " glorify and dirty bosses on other units

It takes a dirty boss or rank for 95 % of all contraband ot get in . With out them taking money and other things and then introducing the contraband or looking the other way it wont happen as much .

Be patient it really is for every ones safety TDCJ is not some vast conspiracy despite is serious problems .

Also Keep in mind that that cell phone brought in or other contraband could end up causing your PP harm even if he is not involved with gangs or other illegal activity or is a STG such as a escape risk and other things .

Thank you for your insight Ase, whilst i would never compromise my PP or any other inmate by doing things that are frowned upon i know there are others out there who may not have the same morals as me, i feel by doing anything illegal you are not only making life difficult for your PP but many others who have to suffer when the whole unit is placed on lockdown.

My pp is @ Ramsey. Mail is SO SLOW. The email service @ Jpay gets it there the same day if in my 12 noon Texas time. It speeds up the process.

TX mail is always pretty slow

I got a letter from my PP who is in Ramsey 1 unit and it was written on the 25/9 and went through Houston on the 28th and got to me in the UK on 3rd/10, though he tells me he writes often and that sometimes the mail room mess with there mail? obviously the only bit of power they can wield

The mail is super slow @ Ramsey because they have to scan every piece of mail. This is a GRAD unit, and they have to make sure the offenders are being true to the program and have ended all gang ties. Sadly, some are kicked out of the program due to continued gang activity, and this is caught via mail.

It is more slow going in than it is coming out, but none the less, it is slower than any other unit I've dealt with in TX.

The mail room has 72 hours to process the mail when it comes in there, not the 24 hours as every other non-grad unit. When you think about it... there are around 1570 inmates with a trustee camp holding over 400 inmates. That is around 2000 offenders, and if all of them received one letter per day, that is a boat load of mail for 3 to 4 people to sort through, scan, and organize for delivery to the inmates.

It can take longer, even coming out. I've never has a lot piece of mail, but slow, yeah, it kind of comes with the turf and the inmates are aware of this slowness once they enter the Grad program.

The way we keep our mail at a reasonable pace is I email via Jpay and he writes, He gets my post the same day if in before noon and I get his response a week later.

thank you very much for your great information. It's a good idea to mail with email. Today I got a letter (big smile) from his old address (but he can move every day) In the past time I wrote letters and in the meanwhile (when it took so long I wrote Cards with PrisonPaper. They also are really good. The card is there in 1 or 2 days, also very quick. But I also will try to email, when the time is coming to grad. Is it a special email address to the Ramsey unit?
