Exclamation Parole Determination for my son, Victor

My son said he just heard from the Parole board. They said they cannot make a determination on his parole until his classes are terminated.

Unfortunately, his classes will not be completed until possibly July instead of the April date he was first given as his initial earliest release date.

He is not showing any emotion about it and I am concenred about him.
Yet, when the prison contacts him and said that they are holding a picture that I sent to hime because they said it is of a little girl with her shirt off. I have not sent my son any pictures like that. I have sent him pictures of his nephews who are prt Indian and have long hair.

So that may be the mistake made. Now my son shows emotion over that but not over the choice made by the Parole Board.

The prison is going to call him in to ask him what he wants done with the picture. If he wants it sent back to me like they did the last picture, or destroyed, etc.

The last picture was of my brother and some of his friends, and my eldest son sitting on the car and my brother held up his hand showing the "Westside" sign. They said it interperted a gang sign and sent it back.

My son Victor said that he is going to let them know that the picture they may have in question is his nephew, a boy, not a girl with her shirt off and naked.

Incredible!!

I understand thst they have o do what they have to do, don't get me wrong. I am not totally inept. I am just upset that my son has to stay longer than anticipated ad I want him home that's all.

The prison is doing what I expect them to do and nothing less.l My son is changing because of the prison system and that is expected as well. Sad. Very sad. Unfortunate. I hope and pray that he will be OK, and home soon.

Be Blessed!

Angel this is typical of a DOC . Unfortunately parole is a privilege not a right So they can require things such as additional classes before release . he is probably not showing much emotion because there is little he can do . You learn to accept stuff like that and not show much emotion even if you mads as all hell . In prison by showing you got up set over what they system does you give them a "win" If don't show emotion they don't get as much self satisfaction out or it . If that makes sense

As for the photos that can be a big deal to any one locked up those photos are often their only real ties to to friends and family so they will become upset over that .

As for hand of any sort gang or not , that is a big No no .The DOC has no idea if it is gang related or not as gangs come up with new signs all the time. Even a pant leg rolled up can get you tagged as a stg at times

Sadly prison changes any one who does time . I can only hope Victor comes out OK and gets good help once he is out he will need a lot of support and patience .

Hope I helped

You helped a great deal ASE.
I spoke to my son about your reply and he agreed whole heartedly. I am sure we can find him the help he requires when he returns to us. I am very appreciative of your assistance since I have been here on WAP. It has always been on point. I can't be more happy that I have found this site and the people here as well. I wish that I could somehow repay you for the help you and others have given me and the comfort as well regarding my son.

It has been so traumatic, but I have to say ASE, your experiences has been a blessing so to speak to others. I am so sorry that yo had to endure so much in your life and hope that you found the help you needed when you came home as well.

I really don't know what else to say.........................
I hope and pray my son is home one day soon. Reality sometimes sucks!
God Bless You Much!
And Thank You Again Dearly!

[b]Hi Peanut2 !
Very nice to hear from you again. No, my son Victor is not yet out but soon I am praying. They gave him an additional 12 months saying they denied him parole because he has abused substances...... long term, and my son never abused[ any substance. Victor hated that.
They also said he did not finish any of the classes they said he had to take in order ot be released. Well, he could not do that because they moved him several times to 3 different prisons!

It's O.K. Not really, but I mean it will be because I have faith he is coming home.

Then, the mother of his child, her parents are trying to take Victor's son away from him, his parental rights any way. Same thing to me.

Victor is hanging in there very well, yet I am concerned for him because I know how he takes thins on his sleeve and keeps on going. He tries not to show any emotions but they are there. That is what akes him Victor of course (smile).

I wrote a letter to the judge handling the case of Victor's son. I really did not know what to say and just let the words flow. I then wrote a letter to the parole board regarding the extension they gave Victor. I tried to be very careful in what I said as not to hurt Victor, yet get my point across. I hope that went well also, and that it did not cause Victor any more unnecessary problems.

I know you did not expect to hear all of this, but I am so happy to be able to tell you (smile) lol!

Thank you so very much for even inquiring about my son. I too wish along with Victor that he was at least free, even if it was not here at home where i am. His freedom is what is important right now.

Be Blessed Peanut2!
You are a very good person with a nice, kind, fair spirit.
(I gathered that from reading your post here on WAP so don't deny it-smile)B]

12 more months, well not that much longer, he will finally be free and home. A temp set back, sure that was very disappointing and frustrating though.

Trying to take parental rights from him while inside? Your son Victor is still young himself, how can they forecast 18 yrs, he won't be a good father to his child in the future?

Reality does suck but, faith does help pull things thru with determination.

You are in my thoughts as well as Victor and family, I know if Jon can make it, so can Victor and be a good positive someday too. Somethings Victor will not be able to change, and he needs to adapt to that, yet, many things he will be able to change with faith and heart.

Blessings to you all and stick with us too.

Mod Peanut but person,

Yvonne and Jon sending the best possible to happier days together again to come for you all.

Angle I feel bad about your set back . I hope that the next 12 months go by fast . I am sure Victor feels badly and let down .

Sadly i am not suprised that a parole board found a reason to keep him Could it be some one else with a similar name or number whose file they mixed up ? that might be worth looking into io MI lets a attorney subpoena and read a offenders file some states do some do not .

Best of wishes and luck to you and Victor .
