im wanting to send mail to a couple of ladys in jail in the states im in new zealand and can only send mail coupons which are meant to be exchanged at the post/mail centre in the US so they can reply, im guessing thats not possible, do inmates have email accounts? how can they reply to any mail or messages i send to them?

The only way they can respond is through snail mail. Many ppl all over the country write to inmates, you shouldnt have a problem with writing through snail mail

it shouldn't matter all the same. I have known many from where you are that are able to write too inmates in the usa

eminem i'm from the netherlands and writing at prisoners in the usa ,there is no problem from where you are at all!!
the only thing you have to take care off is the postage if it's enough.

Same here, no problems with writing from the Netherlands

No problems here either. However when you start to write sometimes it takes longer in the beginning for your letters to reach your pal. After some time they know who you are and letters get through at their 'normal'speed.

No prob! ;D I write to a couple of girls (not in prison) in Japan (not very often though) and one inmate (at the moment... ! ) in the states and I live in Finland. The postage here (normal size letter, 5 pages) is the same wether I send to finland or outside! I dunno how you have it... The only stupid thing is that it takes abt 5 days for the mail to travel...so if I set a letter it takes abt 2 weeks before I get his. (weekends make it slower).

Hi, Tervetuloa! Obviously mail from Finland is still pretty fast... (I used to live in Helsinki for a while)... You never can tell with prisonmail, can you. Although it does make someones day happier.
