Default Mail question

I'd like to find out if my pp can receive something from Amazon. But I don't want to ask him and the website of the facility says nothing about mail rules. There is a phone number, but I've already experienced that I find it hard to understand spoken English. And there's no e-mail address. Can someone help me?

Shygirl send a letter to the place where your pp is and address it to the Wardens Office and explain your problem. Email addresses are not listed on DOC websites for security reasons.

Shy Girl,
If you log on to the State Website and search for prison policies, they will usually tell you what can and cannot be sent in. If you have any problems, PM me with the State your PP is in and I'll get you a copy of the rules. Peace.

Thanks.

The website says this;
Incoming mail may include: paper with words/drawings; signed unmusical, commercial greeting cards and postcards; photographs (Polaroid photos must have the backing removed); periodicals and published materials shipped from the publisher; and clippings or photocopies of published materials that meet criteria.

I have talked about this with my pp and he said something about a form he has to fill out to get anything. But I never get full answers from him. He just doesn't want me to spend money on him. And I like to surprise him with something. Even if it's just a magazine. Just something to brighten his day. So I thought I'd check out myself what's possible and what's not, but this seems to be a bit harder than I thought.

Magazine subscriptions are allowed. Books from sources like Amazon and Ebay are usually acceptable if the prison allows delivery by sources other than the US Mail. A lot of prisons will not accept UPS or Fedex so be sure if you plan on sending a book, it's shipped through an approved source. Good luck.
Oh, remember that any magazine you send CAN NOT show nudity, weapons, drugs, ganglife or promote racial discord. I know you probably wouldn't do that but, I thought I'd let you know. Some prisons won't let pictures of tattoos come in even if they are in a magazine.

Thank you. But how do I know now what is an approved source? And a magazine ordered at Amazon will this be ok? (I guess I can find that one out myself... really I feel like I'm getting dumber by the minute here...)

Goedemorgen, your are not dumb. The US prison system is a complete disater. Your English reading and writing abilities are far supperior to most of us in this country. I worked close to Maastricht for many months and found that the Dutch have a wonderful view of languages, people and family.

gelieve te geven geen hoop op. Bestudeer de wet voor de staat in de Verenigde Staten door het Ministerie van Correcties. Goed geluk.

Obviously my Dutch is not nearly as good as your English but I hope I was able to help.

Thank you! That was so much fun to read something in Dutch here! But if you learned this Dutch in just months...wow... It took me 9 years of lessons in highschool and college and a lot of tv to come this far...

Maastricht really is a beautiful city. I love the south.

Thank you for the advice. (Study the law for the state in the US by the Department of Corrections...right?) And I won't give up hope.

Can I just say that I think it's so nice that you wrote some Dutch. Every foreigner that comes here always assumes that everybody speaks their language. So I really appreciate it if someone tries to speak Dutch! (and you're quit good at it it seems)
