If you have the inmates name and facility, you can contact the facility and they will give you the inmates doc #.

I had to do this while on vacation. I left my pals address here, and all I had was her name and facility.

I was able to obtain it by phoning the prison.

Lisa you can call 916-445-6713; it's the identification unit for the California DOC, M-F, 8-5. You will need her full name and birthdate. They will tell you where she is located and her inmate number. You can find this information on the Calif. DOC website under "Visitors."
