Most prisons won't allow things made by Craftsman to come through the mail. The best and easiest (cheapest) way to find out is to go to the State DOC website and look up the rules. Every state is different. Peace.

Good morning everybody!
Does anybody now about state prisons? Is there by any chance a web-page for example where you can read about regulations/restrictions?

Ok dude follow these steps :

1 at the top of this page click "inmate ads"
2 click any ad on website
3 you will see at the bottom of every ad a icon for both the state DOC and Federal DOP websites. click federal
4 On the Federal home page type in "RULES AND REGULATIONS" -go
5 Click "Policy Documents"
6 Next page click " Browse DOP Policy" on the left hand side of the screen

Thought I would ad this one as a gift idea. if you have a pal that is in a hot state, they tend to cook in those cells and there is no air circulation at all and it can become quite miserable. This is an inexpensive gift to help out with that. Please check your facility because not all will allow. You cant send the batteries but your pal can buy those in store usually. They will just cut off that strap for certain.

Many facilities have outlawed batteries because of their use in tattoo equipment. Just an FYI.

Ya I know but not all. Thats why i said check first of course. Some may not allow the fan anyway if they think they can take apart that nozzle to get to the spring but probably depends on any history of weapon manufacturing the inmate has also.

The convict I write could get it but they took off the strap is all.

Has anyone sent any 'gifts' to TN? I already send pictures, postcards, stamps, newspaper clippings - and I know he can get quarterly care packages and books from Amazon - I was thinking more along the lines of bookmarks, friendship bracelets, handmade items...

Hammond have you tried just asking your pal? I know sometimes you want it to be a surprise but that can be hard and if you send something not allowed, you may not get it back depending on the facility and then that puts you in the position of needing to ask your pal if they received it and if they didnt, can upset them and cause undue problems.

You can also ask your pal for a list of contraband items and what cant be sent. That at least narrows it down without spoiling it. Or you can just call them and ask flat out. They will tell you why it cant be sent in most cases.

This is what i do. I send a photo of what i want to send printed from the internet with the specs written on the paper. He can then show it to a CO and ask. My guess on the items you listed is bookmarks probably okay as long as they are just standard paper bookmarks. No on friendship bracelets due to the string. And a big no on anything handmade unless its just a simple card and even that they will object to gliters and glue or anything hanging off it.
