I want to send my penpal on DR some books. He has had this authorised and he chose some from the list I sent him from the internet. They were on Amazon.com. How do I get them posted to him. Do I have to go through a special site or are Amazon able to sent them for me?

Most inmates can receive books/magazines from an authorized book dealer, magazine dealer, bookstore, etc. so amazon.com should work. I have used Barnes and Noble without issue. (this is assuming they are not under extra restrictions like segregation). I have been told we can send books directly from us to our penpals that are on Georgia's Death Row in GDCP.

I write a couple girls around the US and when they want books I send them a catalog from Silverhammer Books. They specialize in sending books to institutions and I never have any problems with mail or refusals. They are cheaper than most other places also. I hope your friend finds hours of escape between the covers of his booksi2damax@aol.com

The rules have changed at NECX in Mountain City TN about sending inmates books, here is part of the memo they sent out, I posyed in a different post but wanted to post it here also. I got a memo that was for the NECX inmate population. "Due to the amount of contraband found recently in books coming into NECX, and the individuals misrepresenting themselves as companies the following changes will go into effect March 1, 2009" "All books must be purchased through your trust fund account....Family and freinds can no longer order these for you."
