MARCIE YOUNG, Charlotte Observer
A former Waffle House employee said he saw a man lurking around Emily
Anderson's truck the day after she disappeared in 2005, but it didn't look
like her husband, Jerry Anderson, who is on trial for her murder.
Bruce Bomar, 33, said today that he was working at the Waffle House on Dec.
30, 2005, when he saw a man with a crew cut standing near her truck, he said
Tuesday. A door on the truck was open, he said.
The man, who Bomar said was white, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches and had a
broad build, looked nothing like Jerry Anderson, he said. The man's hair,
Bomar said, "was the exact opposite" of Anderson's.
Anderson is bald on top and has a ring of red hair around the side of his
head. The man Bomar saw had hair on top of his head and was closely shaved
on the side.
Bomar has been subpoened by the prosecution and defense in Anderson's trial,
and he said he was expecting to testify for the prosecution today.
Emily Anderson was last seen alive on Dec. 29, 2005. Ten days later, her
Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was found in the parking lot near the
Waffle House in South Carolina, about 100 miles from Caldwell County. She
had been shot twice, and her body had been crammed into the truck bed's
large tool box.
Jerry Anderson was charged with first-degree murder and could face the death
penalty if convicted. The trial was moved from Caldwell County to Gastonia
because of pretrial publicity.
