INDIANAPOLIS -- A man who was convicted last month of murdering and dismembering his estranged girlfriend was sentenced Friday to 68 years in prison, bringing at least some semblance of closure to the victim's family.


Joshua Bean, 23, used a chainsaw to cut apart Heather Norris' body, burned the remains, placed them in 10 trash bags and threw them in Dumpsters on the city's south side. Norris' remains were never found.

Why no death penalty on that one? One thing i never understand at the US court system is that there's no logic in when they sentence someonme to death and when not.

She had filed domestic abuse charges on him, one he was found not guilty, the other was still pending. She had been know to attack him, it appears. Just saying maybe with all they know, we do not" that is what may have got him the yrs instead of the DP?

He didn't commit a murder while in commission of another felony is why they did not seek the dp.

What he did takes a real sick bastard to do.... but peanut is right we don't know both sides of the story...

I just to work with a girl and she was constantly in and out of jail (jail not prison), for domestic violence. She would, when angry, hit her boyfriend.
One day he snapped and finally hit her back, landing them both in jail.

Odd how American law is, he did this horrific crime and didnt get the death penalty yet someone gets the dp in some states where they were just at the crime scene and didnt actually do the killing - odd - odd

Im sorry to say this but that thing deserves everything the state of Indiana gives him & then some.The state should have giving him the DP cause we all know he is full of it when he says it was self defense.I hope they fry him.
