John Lennon's killer Mark Chapman is denied parole
Mark David Chapman shot Lennon outside his Manhattan apartment in December 1980. He was sentenced to life imprisonment the following year.
Chapman became eligible for parole in 2001 but the New York State Board of Parole has always refused to free the killer.
Today the board denied a fifth request claiming the release of Chapman, 53, was "not compatible with the welfare of society at large."
