It's not just racial lines, it is demographics as well. Northern Hispanics, southern hispanics, etc..

Sadly all prisons are self segregated. I don't understand the mentality.

What do you really expect from these people, how can they be heard? Most of us are not even willing to stand up to our own family and speak out. You house them like sardines for the most part, the SYSTEM encourages segregation by their own actions, often the CO's will instigate fights so they can bet and watch, which in turn has a ripple effect on the guys. The prison systems are set up in a way that encourages survival of the fittest so many have to align with a gang being the lesser of two evils, given little to none in education and i am not speaking of just a GED and you expect them to play happy families? Wake up, the blame cannot continually be placed on the inmates, look at the SYSTEM that surrounds them, how they live, how they are treated how can they change even if they want to, the system is not built in such a way, that much i have learnt.

This riot was not about prison conditions or to be heard, it was gang related over drugs/ racism gang control.

What, want to be heard?????

Perhaps they wanted the prison officials to hear loud and clear they do not like the other race? I think sometimes we over analyze things that are already laid out for us.

Yeh, this riot had nothing to do with being housed like sardines, it is the same war, they have on the streets outside that got them were they are now.
