[i]When an inmate is released from a Michigan prison, I was old that he could be transferred to the state he is from by paying $100.00 for the paperwork.

What I want to know since I have never experienced this before is, isn't the inmate supposed to get some paperwork or a letter on where he is to go (housing) upon release?

I had expected that he would be released and able to come home. I live (he lives) in California and is in prison in Michigan. He is supposed to be released in a few months and the probation gentleman who handled his case in the courtroom when sentenced said that I could pay $100.00 to have his case transferred to California, if CA. would accept him here.

But I don't know if there are any stipulations or details like, he would have to have a place to go in Michigan in order o be released at all or they will keep him longer than expected.

He still has an appeal open that he wants me to close for fear of staying in jail or going back to jail longer (if he goes through with the appeal).

Where would I find all of this out? Who do I ask?

Fees will vary from state to state and both the sending and receiving state have to agree to the offender /parolee going to that st ate .Each state has it's own way of doing things .

Your best bet is to consult with a attorneys who practices almost exclusively in parole . Make sure you interview them and find out how successful they are and how much they charge and how the bill you . Always check with the Bar Association in that state to be sure if they are a member of the state and ABA and do not have any problems. you can start by googleing their name

I should add some states are tougher(TX is A BI^(# about it and usually will bind you to county of conviction for as long as the damn well please if the PO is a hard a$$ ) than others about this if he is out on bond , he generally cannot leave the state and in some cases county or even city or house depending on his charges and how cozy the judge and prosecutor are .As well as how good of a professional relationship his defense attorneys have with them .

i just went through this same thing back in 2005.It dont work like that.He has to get a bus ticket through his Prison (let em know ahead of time he needs it) to send him to CA.But before he goes he will have to go see his local P.O in mich. to get all the paper work to leave mich. & move back to ca where he is from.It does cost to get it all dont but usually it is only like $50-$150. But if CA refuses him he will have to move to mich. to do his probation or parole what ever he will be on.As fart as i know there is no stipulations unless it is parole he is doin after he is released.If that be the case,yes he will have to have a address (home) to go to & his P.O will go check it out before he gets out.If it is probation he is gettin out on he should beable to get that transfered to CA.

FWI WTX rarely if ever accepts interstate parolees . They have enough of their own and are very strict with parole . I know about TDCJ first hand
