| My PP is just now beginning to serve his time of Parole in Colorado. He mentioned a little while back that he was looking into getting a transfer, and was hoping to be able to serve this Parole time in another state where he feels like he can have a real future for himself. He's not very good with looking things up, so I thought I could help with some minor research, but as far as I have seen, one can only get a transfer if they have immediate family in this other state and have personally lived there at least once before. Is anybody familiar with the rules of Parole, especially in Co who could let me know if this is true? Is it IMPOSSIBLE to get a transfer? What about simply visiting another state as well? I've been trying to look into Traveling Passes for him and find out if he can leave the state for a couple weeks - even if it's not a 'family emergency'. I know that he'll eventually be able to talk to his Parole Officer about all this, but I just thought it would help if I could find something out a little sooner for him. I don't have much luck when it comes to researching on the internet, so PLEASE if anybody can help me out I would greatly appreciate it! If you know anything about this topic or even just place where i could go to find some information, that would help SOOO much. Thank you in advance. |

| Im sorry im not sure on this. My pen pal told me he was released once before (he's been in and out) and they forced him to serve his parole in a city he had never lived in before. So this made him homeless basically. I dont understand the reasoning behind parole rules sometimes. I guess they did not want him going back to the same area that he had gotten in trouble in before but to just make someone move off to a new place doesnt seem to be the solution either! Needless to say, he got in trouble in the new area as well since he had no place to go there. See what you can find on the internet about parole rules and please post what you find thanks!

| All 50 states are parties to the Interstate Compact for Parole & Probation Supervision. To be approved by the sending state (CO) he will have to show he has family and a means of supporting himself in the proposed receiving state. It will then be up to the proposed receiving state whether or not to accept him. |

| Question..kinda going through the same thing here. My fiance has proof that he has no immediate family, no car, no home, nothing..and my state doesn't want him. But we filed an emergency hearing because he has no where to live when he gets out. The question is this? We are going in front of a federal judge who we are hoping to order the state I live in to take him..what are the chances of this really happening? I mean, he has a home, a car and me, his fiance to live with here in my home state. where he is at now? NOTHING! What are our chances? |
