If the charges were dropped you may be able to sue for false arrest under 42 U.S.C. section 1983. This is a federal law providing a private cause of action to anyone whose constitutional right were violated by State officials. Lawyers like to take these cases because under if you win, they get their attorneys' fees paid by the other side. Of course I would need more facts to know if you can really sue (how long ago, why charges were dropped, etc.)
