Susan i have to agree with Frank on this one. You kind of have to read between the lines on his post. Look at your message from someone elses views. You would be willing to keep a convicted murder alive but find it ok for an innocent baby to die. alot of people think of a baby as a fetus this way it helps them clear their concience of how they are thinking. You have the right to your views though just as anyone else. ;o) but please do me a favor and go surfing on the web look into how a "fetus" is formed. find pictures on botched abortions where they laid the baby on a table until it died. Find where it says the fetus has a brain stem very eairly in the stages of formation as well as a heart. As i have said before in a group of people there are 2 things that will not be agreed on dp and abortion. Hope i did not offend ya Susan love ya and your post. Just want you to see it from a different point of view.
Connie

Trout, In answer to your question about an intruder that is here to destroy my family...

I, of course, would protect my family. That is different entirely... I would never let anyone just come into my home or anywhere else and hurt me or my children. Here, that is called self-defense. Although, it would have an enormous emotional and mental effect on me for the rest of my life... I would indeed do what I had to do.
Wouldn't anyone?

actually, susan, i have a real bad conscience about abortion, because i have performed one. just one: and when i saw those limbs lying there, i thought "what have i done to someone who never did me any harm?" that's one of the reasons i went on to become a biochemist rather than a surgeon.
please don't think i'm against killing: i'll kill those who would kill me or mine if they could, and i wouldn't miss a heartbeat because of it.
think about it: my ancestors survived because they had no qualms about killing their enemies, and couldn't bring themselves to kill their children. there must have been people who did things the other way around, but we don't hear from them because for some reason they didn't make it to this century.

Maybe I would be for the death penalty if I knew that only guilty people got it, and that the sentence was handed out fairly. It's not really the executing that bothers me. It's the unfairness of the whole process. It's the same with abortion. What if a young girl with no support gets raped? Can she handle having a baby? If you find out that your unborn child is seriously deformed, do you want to go ahead with the birth?

as far as i know, we try our damnedest to make sure that only guilty people get the death sentence: we try TOO hard.
and they're handed out fairly: you have to kill someone to get it. actually, if there's any unfairness at all, it's that too few get it, rather than too many.
the vast majority of abortions are not performed on women who have been raped, or out of fear of deformity: they're performed as a convenience. now, you don't want one innocent person executed for murder, but you'll happily kill millions of babies (more than a million a year in the usa alone) so that some women who have been raped, or are carrying defective babies, aren't inconvenienced?
and to think, they call themselves Homo sapiens.
