Default waited four months for a letter.

I just got a letter the other day from a guy i wrote to when i first started to do this. My letter took four months to reach him in Texas, talk about a "Slow Boat To China" He is in Texas and seems very lonely so i'm glad that he got my letter and his response was great. Has anyone else experienced such a long delay with their letters reaching their friends. Andrew

Hi Andrew - hope youre well. I know its not the same but me and my daughter wrote our second letters to a pp in Thailand (an English guy) well over month ago if not more and we've never heard anything back - Im still not sure if I should write again or not - maybe his silence is his way of saying he doesnt want to hear from me?

Hi Chelseagirl, i imagine that letters to Thailand take a long time to arrive and that the system is very slow there. i would do a follow up letter if i were you so the person knows you are there for them. Oh by the way were did you find a prisoner site dealing with Thailand. And thanks for asking i'm fine apart from a damaged shoulder from pushing weights in the Gym, i'm a regular 4x a week gym goer so i know i have to rest it and all will be well. Hope you are ok. Andrew

Hi Andrew, maybe it's not a good comparison, but when I once wrote a letter to my grandma in Germany (the letter should take not more than 3 to 4 days from Austria to Germany), she received the letter 3 weeks later. Sometimes letters get lost and they are found sometime later and sent on their way to the final destination again. There can happen so much with a letter that long way from Europe to the USA. But it could also be that the letter got lost in the mail room of the prison and when the letter was finally found (by accident) it was given over to your new pp.

Andrew it seems that Texas should really get their act together in a big way. I can only say be patient. I have no proof but some mailrooms deliberately withold mail to certain inmates as some kind of punishment.

Chelseagirl I admire you so much for trying to write to an inmate in Indonesia. Your problem may be similar to Andrew's problem. I would write again if I were you. If you still get no answer I would write to the prison and demand a reason why this guy will not or cannot write to you. References to the Red Cross and various Embassies could be helpful. Maybe Law Dog could also help with this problem. Good Luck to you both.

Hi Marita hi Wildcare, yes letters can go astray and i am relieved he got my letter albeit eventually. But four months! where did it go. maybe you are right maybe the prison did hold it back or maybe it really did end up on the slow boat to china. Andrew

Hi Chelseagirl, don't hand your head in shame we're not all cut out for the gym. I go because{a} i love the feeling i get after exercise and {b] if i didn't go i'd be a BLOB. I am lucky i have a training partner who i meet so even when i feel like bunking off i have to go or let him down so i have an incentive. Any form of exercise is good be it swimming, walking, cycling or even vigourous housework. So get out there and do something, your heart will thank you and you'll feel great even if it's just fifteen minutes a day. Andrew

Andrew, youre so right - my problem is that I will go religiously for say 6 months and then get bored - I absolutely love the feeling afterwards but find it very very boring - I have used all the motivational tactics like music etc but I still tire of it :0(
