I just got a letter from my guy and he said someone was visiting and they had taken the drug dog around the cars in the parking lot and one dog alerted on a visitors can. They found a pipe in the car and the visitor was arrested and cannot visit anymore.Just a warning...

Yeah they did some searches in the parking lot once when I visited a woman there at KCIW in Kentucky. They searched cars at random. I had left my pistol in a safe place at the hotel room. Good thing I did. B/c they searched my car before I left. I guess b/c I had out of state tags too. *LOL*

In literally ALL States, it is a felony to transport any weapon, firearm, or illegal substance, including drugs and/or alcohol beyond a 'guard line'. The 'guard line' begins at the curtiledge of the government property. There is generally a sign posted at the entrance or border of the property advising that any and all vehicles and/or persons are subject to search.

The 4th amendment protections against unlawful search and seizure are statutorily waived when one enters upon any detention facility, including City, County, State, and Federal jails/prisons.

LD, our facility has a big sign upon entering the facility & also includes any recording devices such as tape recorders, cameras, video cameras, etc.

I rarely go anywhere w/o my 9mm handgun either. The only place I didn't take any firearms is when we went over the Canadian border at Waterton. My husband said it was too much trouble to register it with the authorities for just overnight, although before our trip, I contacted the Canadian authorities & asked the requirements & was sent the proper forms.

Also, when we flew on a private plane once & was returning home, I wanted to fly over our facility. Both my husband & the pilot weren't crazy about that idea but they went close enough for me to make a photo (really pretty at night) but it is also illegal to fly directly overhead a containment facility.

These are things I don't think the general public are aware either.
