| | Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? Hi-
I haven't been on WAP in a few years, but I do have a question. I hope I am not wrong. My pp says he didn't send a V-day card b/c they don't sell them??? He is at FCC Coleman in FLA. We have been writing for four years and he is due to get out in the next few months.
Has anyone heard such a thing? Just curious b/c I have spent a lot of time helping this person, ALOT OF TIME, though he never asked for money, and I am just wondering if he is being honest?
If I am wrong, I will feel terrible, but honestly, it just sounds really dumb. He writes to many women and that's fine, but I always get a card, and considering what I've done for him you would think he could at least send one.
thanks--I just want to confirm that they do not sell Valentine's Day cards at FCC Coleman Medium. |

My Mood: | | Re: Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? LeeLee, best help I can give is,every prison I have dealt with"the inmates have access to any type card. Florida is an odd state to be incarcerated in many ways. I would guess even there they have V-Day and other holidays cards. At the least, someone good at artistic work inside would do one up for another inmate.

| | Re: Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? Yes,
Thanks-over the years I have gotten many different cards and one on every Valentine's Day. He was in Shu recently so maybe his commissary is messed up, but I doubt it.
He says he wants to see me when he gets out, but I really think this shows where his mind is already. I guess I can only wish him the best. This last year has been horrible at Coleman FLA. Honestly, the staff there is disgusting.
Thank you for your replies. I just want to confirm for sure before I let him go. |

| | Re: Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? I got a Valentine's Day card from my friend who is in Coleman but I know there are 2 prisons there so I'm not sure if it's the same one. His letters say Coleman II on the return address. Maybe his commissary was messed up and he wasn't able to get his commissary in time for V-Day..If you have any other Q's feel free to PM me |

| | Re: Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? 4 years of friendship and support and you are willing to "let him go" over a card?
Sorry but i just don't understand that. I will not make excuses for your friend as i believe there are none. Even he could of done something himself with pen and paper, but talk to him first before you kick him to the curb. Be honest and let him know how this has made you feel. Sometimes people don't fully understand how we feel even if we think we explain ourselves well. As i found out recently.
A friend of mine ordered a Valentines card this year off store, but when it came back it was a Christmas card. The store lady apologized saying she would refund the amount. My friend said in all honesty he was pissed, but he wanted to look at it anyway, not sure why. He said he insisted. Turns out he sent the card to me for Valentines day anyway. Sometimes what others see as mistakes only serves to teach us. He couldn't of sent a nicer card even if at the very end it said........MERRY CHRISTMAS. ......LOL

| | Re: Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? It's not "the card"...it's "the thought" and he did write Happy Valentine's Day on a letter...also it's "the lie"
He had a lot of problems this year at this facility-with his mail being switched between a few of his friends. Me and him are friends & supposedly he wants to see me when he gets out -that's less than a month. The last six months he was in SHU w/o a hearing and I cannot tell you how much time I spent writing federal agencies, ACLU, Senators...etc , making phone calls, sending emails...I sent out twenty-five letters a clip.
So it really is not the card, it is the thought. And since I get a card every year and he gets out in a few weeks, I think after everything I have done for him....it was pretty thoughtless. That's all.
This year has been hell and I am very stressed out. It's also stressful b/c he is getting out and we have been writing for four years.....I'm not getting another pp, but it's weird to think no more pictures, stickers, letters, cards, etc etc...it's sort of sad but a very happy time.
I wouldn't let him go over a card...I just don't think he was honest when he said, "they don't sell them" (quote)
thanks... |

My Mood: | | Re: Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? I would not let him go over a card after 4yrs either, just answered your basic question on cards. If it has been hell for you, sure it has for him also, and tension mounting this close to getting out. Have to keep one thing in mind,in our world that is an important detail, in theirs it is not, due to so much going on near release.

| | Re: Valentine's Day Cards at FCC Coleman? leelee, not making excuses for his UNthoughtfulness at all. Because in my world actions have always spoken louder than words. He really could of done a lot better, as he has demonstrated in the past by his THOUGHTFUL actions. Don't forget where he was housed and what situations you have BOTH had to endure up until this time. You yourself said it has been stressful. To me it sounds like if you had a heart to heart with him, it would be nothing you both couldn't sort out. He obviously cares as much as you do. Give him a little rope, and if he is not who he portrays himself to be he will end up hanging himself.
I had a friend in the can until very recently for a very long period of time and he was limited on what he was able to purchase. He sent me his store list and it was very limited. So in thinking about it in all honesty, he could be telling you the truth. now you have me curious so i will go find the list and look for my own knowledge.
You have to ask yourself if he has lied before etc, don't just assume because we have said he wouldn't be able to order that is to be taken as the truth.
