Hey everybody, I see some posts on here talking about Thanksgiving, recipes and their p/p. I just wanted to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to each and everybody on here that reads this message board. I truly hope you all have a grea time with your family and friends this Thanksgiving. I'm spending it with friends in my city. Anybody else doing anything special for Thanksgiving? Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

As we do almost every year, having no family nearby, my wife and I (and two other couples) utilize the bar & grill facilities of a friend of ours to prepare a large dinner for those who also have no family to share the holiday with. Our friend always goes out of town on Thanksgiving and gives us full access to his kitchen facilities at the bar. Since we live in a relatively small community, we really don't have "homeless" people, but we do have quite a few who live alone, have no family, or simply just have nothing else to do on Thanksgiving day, but sit alone. We open the door to anyone who merely wants some companionship on that day.

| Lawdog, that is a great idea to do. I know the church I go to does the same thing for thanksgiving. No questions asked. Anyone and everyone is welcome for a thanksgiving dinner prepared by members of the church. Not to mention the fact that the town also has 2 prisons back to back on the north side of town.......lol. | That's sweet, LD! :-) We don't do anything out of the ordinary here (I guess). My mom and I make a ton of food, everyone eats too much, naps, and eats again. I think this has got to be my favorite holiday, though...I love the Christmas season as a whole, but as an individual day I find Christmas day itself sorta anti-climatic. There's all this build up to it, then my kids open their presents and everyone's bored by noon! :-) But Thanksgiving is festive from morning until night in my house. And I LOVE the traditional American foods - turkey, yams (with tons of syrup and marshmallows!), homemade stuffing & mashed potatoes, tons of gravy, cranberries, pumpkin pie...yum, yum and more yum :-P And then of course there is the ultimate religious experience on Friday called "the day after Thanksgiving sale". My mother, my daughters, and myself will shop til we drop *eyes roll back in head* and then return home in the evening for Thanksgiving day leftovers. Oh yes I love this holiday <g>! Happy Thanksgiving everyone :-) |

Will be spending the holiday with my neice - everyone in my family will be there except my son. Unfortunately, he couldn't get off from work to make the trip. Anyway, we are having deep fried turkey - really good if you've never tried it... LD, it sounds as if your holiday is what Thanksgiving is all about - sharing a meal with family and friends...Happy Thanksgiving to all at WAP....

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! My 2 children and I are going out of town to my mothers house. My ex is then taking our kids abck home. I am staying with my mom, since she lives closer to the prison that my boyfriend is in. I will go and see him on Fri, then back to my moms for the night, then back to see him on Sat, then back to my moms, then back to see him on Sunday, then I will go home, back to reality. Alot of driving, but it is all worth it to me. I hope that you all have a great holiday and be safe if you are on the roads!!
