Hi there, My pal is in Connally unit and I can send him as much as I want of copies from the internet. It's no problem at all to send some. You can see on the website of Texas DC what is allowed and what is not. Good Luck

I was just reading the rules at the TX DOC website, and it seems we can't send anything except letters with enclosures. I had been hoping that I could send a gift to my PP, as his birthday is next month. Is wiring money the only alternative? I had hoped for something a little more personal, but it seems impossible...or am I misreading the guidelines?

Unfortunately, you cannot send gifts to TX prisons. You can print as much information off the Internet that you like, but NO maps and NO nudey pics. You CAN go through Barnes and Noble and other bookstores and order books for your pp. As long as they are sent direct from the store without having been in your presence, they can receive those. Books make great gifts. If you order them online, you can include a gift message that you can write special just for them. I don't know what you've read, but it has been my experience that JPay.com is the easiest and least expensive way to send money to inmates in TX. I hope this helps a little.

ummm unsure if I'm misunderstanding but I've sent plenty of printed out material from my pc to my pp with no problem as long as the postage was up to date. When in doubt, I've always called the prison mail room & they've been nice.

By enclosures, I meant pictures or stuff we printed from the net. Thanks for the tip about Amazon or Barnes And Noble. A book would make a great present, I think. I wish we could use one of those services that sends care packages to the military posted overseas. It seems so draconiannot to allow anything but printed matter. Oh, well. I guess prison doesn't have such a bad reputation for nothing:-(

In most states you can get a magazine subscription for them to a magazine that they might enjoy - as long as it is shipped directly from the company and not from you. You can go on line under magazine subscriptions and get some good prices. -Shannon-
