| //womenincrimeink.blogspot.com/2008/05/susan-atkins-dying-of-brain-cancer.html Well, folks, let's try not be too upset about this. The Manson Family Today website reported this afternoon that Charles Manson groupie and convicted murderer Susan Atkins (photos then and now) is dying of brain cancer and has only weeks to live. I don't know if I repeating a thread but I following a show today on HISTORY CHANNEL, a report of cults and it was mentioned that she has cancer and will perhaps dies inside. Just thought it was off subject a bit but I do know the manson girls get alot of media courgage. |

| I remember that Sharon Tate's Mom Doris always went to the parole hearings after she died her daughter Patti took on the fight but a few years ago she died so now it's up to sister Debra to show up year after year. |

| I had mixed feelings on her release until I thought it through. Now I think her released being denied is a correct one myself. The horrific crime involved, and stays in my mind, a pregnant Sharon Tate being stabbed by Atkins, who stated" she was sick of listening to her pleading and begging for her life and her unborn childs. Atkins was given the DP, which was commuted to "Life" instead. She also married twice while inside and had conjugal visits. Appears she had a good long life even inside, while the others did not. including a child whom never got to live, and family forever devestated of Sharons and so many others.. I feel under all the circumstances above, she was lucky actually to live and love and marry, so reasonable to me, she dies from "natural" causes while inside and body given to family then. My thoughts and opinion..................

| Yes Skype the sister Debra attends all parole hearing for all three ladies and I think partly to her presence, these three don't get parole. She is the constant reminder of what they did. I do also agree that even though they are now very old and perhaps and are model prisoners that parole should be denied. For all three. |

| Wow! A tough call. But, I think that I would have to go along with Peanut on this. I compare this with my PPs, past and present. Both of whom have/had life sentences for murder. However, both of my PPs have claimed that they were "set up", either by unscrupulous law enforcement officials or vindictive aquaintances, and that they didn't have a hand in the murders that they were convicted of. And so, I can easily forgive them and wish for their pardons. In this case, however, Ms. Atkins definitely had a bloody hand and actually committed the crime. For that reason, I have to agree that she be given no consideration for any kind of release . . cancer or no. :-( |

| While we have good hearts and would like to allow someone to die at home in peace, there are times when they should really face the fate they set in place for themselves. There are many people who have done far less heinous acts, who have died inside who did not even have the option to ask to die at home. I think had this not been a 'high profile case' that we wouldn't be having this discussion. None the less, life should mean life. It wasn't one life she took, it was two. She got to live her life, Sharon's was cut short and her child's never existed outside of the womb. I really have no sympathy in this case. That may sound callous, but it is how I feel. She had a choice back then. She made the choice to be where she was and do what she did. The state has their choice to make, and they made their choice.

| i see people professionally on an occasional basis with brain tumors and brain cancer so at the time i was slightly sympathetic but after getting my memory refreshed on the crime by a documentary last night on the Manson family i believe none of them should ever get out to bad they were not executed quite frankly |
