Hi - I am just about to write my first letter to my new PP - he's in Snake River,OR. I was just wondering if anyone has any information about the prison or the area as I've been on the website but theres not a lot to go from on there. Is it max/med security etc...

Any help would be appreciated!!

Holly, email me. My special PP (guy) is at snake river and I visit there about twice a week. Let me know what questions that you have. It is a medium security prison.

The prison is located in an unpopulated area around the city of Ontario. Really easy to get to, as there is not much traffic.

As for what can be mailed. You can use staples, no tape. You can send stuff from the interenet and don't have to cross off the website address, as long as it isnt over a quarter of an inch thick. Ten pictures per envelope.

The visiting room is very big, and the guards are nice, but they are VERY strict about inmates/visitors following the guidelines in regards to touching. The inmate can give you a hug/kiss before the visit starts, and has to sit the entire time. The only time he can get up is when the guards do bathroom breaks. The same at the end of the visit, a hug and a short kiss. During the visit you can hold hands, as you are sitting directly across from him at a small table, but touching can't go above the wrists. It really SUCKS.

Everyone there is friendly. The prison is very clean.

what is the diffrence between a a max and a med. facility?

dragon, what I’ve experienced is, they are very strict on rules in a max prison where in a med security prison~~~~> I would so to say----- laid back. I also know in max, you don’t have as many privileges. i.e, rec time, phone, shower, basically to be out of your cell when you want. in a medium you can pretty much do what you want. i.e, my guy can go outside, 3 times a day if he wanted, he can shower 5 times a day if he wants, use the phone 10 times a day, (if I could afford to accept all those calls!!!! LOL) (as long as it isn’t count time) basically in and out of his cell when he pleases.. this is what I experienced in Illinois. im sure it is different every where.
