Default Prison Escapes

Has anyone noticed an increase in prison escapes recently? I'm wondering if the TV show "Prison Break" has been influential?

Your thoughts? By the way, I LOVE that program. Only 2 episodes left!

Hey Midwesterngirl,
I watch that show too! I've asked some of my pals about how realistic it is to what really goes on in prison and all have said its nothing like real prison. One pal said, "its all Hollywood".

I know, my friends say it's not like that either but even the Hollywood version is rough.

Right now there's a program on (Geraldo)talking about the rash of escapes. Seems like the guards are catching the blame. Two prisoners escaped today from a maximum security Iowa prison.

A Texas prison official is on now saying escapes are down. There are 151,000 people locked up in Texas. Wow!

I wonder if they will feel it was worth it when they get caught as they usually do isnt it 3 times as hard on them when they go back?

They said the newest 2 on the loose "have nothing to lose". They escaped because there was no guard in the tower due to budget cuts. I would love for them to interview the person who made that decision. I guess there was no way they could cut the food budget any lower.

Shannon you are sooooo right!

Too many states have cut and cut and cut...all at the inmates expense. Food, clothing, medical and dental care, education programs, treatment programs...all down the drain.

The only thing that is left to cut is the adminstration and CO's. And we have seen what that has brought.

Just my thoughts

Tom
