I was blessed to go to a Christmas party on Thursday night at the men's prison. It brought me joy to see those men get as much good food as their stomachs can hold (as now that the food service is contracted out, their portions are very small). It was pouring rain the entire day but I would not let that stop me from going to fellowship with them.

Then on Saturday night, I went to the women's prison for another Christmas party. There were over 400 women present and as I went to each table to greet them and thank them for coming out, they all said, "NO...thank YOU and your church for coming." After the dinner, each lady left the party with a gift bag of very nice toiletries and detergent.

I too would have been most happy to help. How nice this is. Many prisons have absolutely nothing special for XMas and it is so hard on the inmates to face the holidays.

It is a real blessing to be able to do this, particularly at the men's prison where they shut the parties down for the past 3 years due to some evil staff members. However, they are gone now and the new administration has allowed the parties to resume. In the past, the families were allowed to come too (2 adults and the inmates children), but this year it was inmates only. But hey, I'm still grateful.

Its a real blessing to see that your still doing your ministry. My Papi spoke very highly of the Kiaros(sp)? group that came to visit earlier in the year. Im not sure if your part of the same group and even if your not you all do a very good job in raising spirits. Papi enjoyed it so much and spoke very highly of everyone who came to visit, oh and he loved the cookies too lol

Angelita, I'm not a part of Kairos ministries (yet) but I have some friends who are. One of my pals sent me a form to register for the Kairos retreats so I'm waiting to hear from someone.

Yes, the inmates are so appreciative. I will be going on 12/16 for another party at the men's prison where we will feed about 32 guys with some FABULOUS food. I've also sent out letters to stores seeking donations so we can do more as it is quite expensive to have these dinners. Hopefully, some will respond.

what a wonderful feeling that must have been to know that your church has brought not only the word to these men and women but joy and cheer keep up the wonderful work girl
