MYTH female inmates do not get alot of mail, I know a few that never got any because they were not pretty and thin. If I were able to write other inmates when I go down I would write all underdogs because I am an underdog in my opinion.

Cherokee that is true and if they are serving a long sentence thy tend to get less mail as well las if they are convicted of a violent crime they get ,much mail either On average females in prison lose most contact with friends and family with in three years though some have a few outside contacts Those with ads usually have some out side support of course as the outside person had to place the ad . A few high profile female prisoners get ALOT of mail and have fan clubs they are rare I can think of one or two off hand and one is on TX DR at Mountainview the other is in SC at Leath . They both get hate mail and the Woman on TX DR has a few male suitors believe it or not. There are a few others . Out side of that thy get less and less as their time goes by though some do have a number people writing many do not.

I too think this maybe a myth. If the female inmate your writing
isn't a "Barbie Doll type" (for lack of a better expression) she might
not get hardly any mail at all.
Or so I have found it true in the experience with my PP.

How do you pick a pal for friendship? Do you write one and wait until you'll get a response ( if at all? ) or are you trying to write to 2 or 3 at the same time?

I actually looking for one preferable female for a frienship and to invest some time.......... writing takes time,....... and I'm not gonna sending the same letter to several people. So I'm not sure how to start, i wrote a letter on sunday evening when i first found that website and sent it over priority on monday...... Now i guess i should wait a couple weeks.

I’m in the states Alex and I write an inmate also in this country so I do not have to wait as long for mail as someone would who’s writing overseas, nor pay as much for postage thank heavens.

It’s very easy to write for friendship only. You simply seek out prisoners who are not looking for romantic involvement with their pen pals. I focused more on those descriptions when I was looking through ads. And yes, you send your letter and wait to receive a response. I’m not sure how long it will take to reach you (if you are writing American inmates?) Someone else might know. We have a few members from Germany who write US pals. Good luck.

I also failed to add age played a part i didnt think writing to someone in my own kids age group would be too interesting for them at least .I think women do get more mail then males and most are looking for a man .mine is a lifer i also decided on that because i wanted to write someone long term and they of all people needed to be reminded of the world outside the walls they may never see again i could not write to someone on DEATH ROW only because it would break my heart once it was their time to this was as close as i could get to doing what i felt was right

alex i think the person in case will get the letter on friday or else on monday.
most of the times it takes a week.

Well, i understand it that way: friendship is a great beginning of any relationship. If you get to know someone for years it's simply great because you got to know a lot about him/her.

Nothing wrong about that. I didn't said i don't want that happen if it happens, i'm just trying to find a real friend first.....
