I was just wondering how many of you feel comfortable about sending your penpals a photo of yourself? Did you send one in the early stages of the friendship or wait until a little later on? I'm in two minds as what to do so would appreciate others peoples views.

I waited until they brought it up,,then no problem only one asked for a less clothing LOL I declined and all still went well.

I did not send photos of myself on the very first letter. I waited to hear back. He did ask me for a photo on the reply letter but said only if that was okay with me and it was perfectly fine if I didn’t want to. I sent him a couple photos on that reply. Since then I have sent him tons and feel comfortable with it.

However, I have never sent nudes or photos that would be construed as sexual in nature. The furthest I have gone was sending a few from a vacation in which I was in a two piece bathing suit. Pretty tame.

There was that really good thread started by Skye called "Sending Naughty Photos" or something like that and it was a really helpful one to let you know the various risks of sending photos. People had good pointers on how not to “over expose" yourself to inmates. A lot of it is common sense.

I usually wait a few letters. They have all asked me for one by the 3rd or 4th letter.

I only send normal pics of me, none of the kids, and a lot of scenery pics

i did when they asked, no problem there, only one of my penpals asked for one picture every letter, not of me only but my environment city house animals and stuff to create a picture in his head of my life. I have no problem with that

yes they LOVE photos, all kinds. i send various things or printouts from the net. He also sends me whatever he has and then i return those with copies.

Only issue I ran into there with net prints is i sent once a movie poster that dealt with a prison like image and he was able to receive it but said avoid things of that nature as it could potentially be a problem. My mistake and stupid.

If a new pen pal replies i always send some pictures of me my steady pals so to speak i send about 4/5 pictures with every letter, they must already have hundreds by now!

I sent a photo with my second letter. I was comfortable with it since it was just a head shot. I figured I knew what he looked like so I would return the favor. Now I try to send a least one pic every letter. Nothing racy, just us doing our "fun" activities, Michigan Adventure, a parade, that sort of thing.
