My wife and i are trying to do recive incoming calls from penpals. we have researched, and to this point we have had no luck. We use a magicjack and we can't receive collect calls. Any help or at least an arrow in the right direction would be welcome.

I know what you're going through as I just switched to my local cable company as the monthly phone services alot cheaper than my old phone service. Anyway, I can't receive collect calls from my pp at all with this new phone service, but I can receive prepaid phone calls from him. So, what I did was to send some money to his account so he can buy some phone minutes on his prepaid calling card that he can buy at his canteen. I don't know how you feel about sending your penpals to get a prepaid calling card from their prison canteen, but it works for my penpal and me. I also know alot of other people who are doing this as well. Its alot cheaper than collect calls too. Hope this helps

On the Correctional Billing Services web site they have a new pre pain cell phone you can get from SIRO wireless.You still have to pay for the inmate calls,but the minutes on the cell phone are un limited.

It all depends on the state, and the phone service they use. Some allow calls to cell phones and some don't.

My bad..If you use correctional billing services you can use the SIRO pre paid cell phone.That's if you use correctional billing services aka:evercom.

Just a quick reply to the magicjack issue. They don't usually work well. I had one for more than a year and the system just wasn't relaible. I finally disconnected it and go strictly with cell phones now. Speaking of which, does anyone know if pp's from the Crain unit in Texas can call to cell phones? My pp and I desperately want to talk to each other but I don't have a land line anymore. Although I care deeply about my pp, I am not going to have a new land line installed just to talk to her. Any help would be appreciated.
