I`m Canadian so I also remember this case and read a book about it. I can`t believe Paul is saying he is innocent. They suspect he is responsible for a series of rapes that took place in Toronto also but can`t prove it. It`s too bad he can`t admit it and try to get some help. I have the same question Gator does. How do Karla`s parents feel? I think parents are the ones who give us the most unconditional love in our lives. But when one child has a part in another childs murder how do you deal with that? I have often wondered how they do over the years. I also couldn`t write to someone who has raped women. But I am glad someone can because everyone needs someone to help them along.

I totally agree with what you all are saying. Paul did video tape what he did & by me saying that he still maintains his innocence is, he is blaming Karla for it. It was all her idea.He didn't go into to much detail with me. Paul is a monster...so why do I write to him???? I wanted too see what he was like, I wanted to get inside his head & see what he was like. I don't take collect calls from him & I certainly don't send him any money at all.

Hey, Summer. I hope you don't feel judged by anyone in here about your writing to someone like Paul. I share the same fascination with people who commit crimes as macabre as that is. It is obvious you don't condone what he did or side with him with his ridiculous story of innocence. Even though people like myself would have no interest in corresponding with Paul, that doesn't mean others would not or should not.

No, I don't feel like I am being judged at all. I understand why people some people question the reason why I am writing to Paul. I love reading True Crime books & I often write to the person that the book is about. I just want to see what that person is like & some how get an answer to why they did what they did. Of course they ALL say that they are innocent & blame their crime(s) on someone else...just like Paul has done. Thanks for your kind words!

Summer, I can understand your wanting to 'get inside their heads' and find out why someone would commit the crimes they did. I am that way to a point. I don't write to anyone that did the sorts of things Paul did, nor do I think I could. I would like to remind those who are reading/responding to this thread, that those he was accused and convicted of raping and murdering were not 'women' but mere children! He'd kidnap teenaged girls, usually on their way home from school or something like that. THAT is why I found what he did to be so repulsive. One such girl agreed to do whatever he asked her to do, in the belief he'd let her go home as that is what he'd promised her. His actions prior to their deaths were bad enough. However, the way that he dismembered them and set them in concrete and threw them in a river, just made the crime all the more gruesome. I cannot believe he'd even attempt to proclaim his innocence. Doesn't he know there was too much damning evidence of his guilt to make anyone believe in his innocence? Sadly, some people such as Paul tell their lies so long, THEY actually begin to believe them. Summer, I, too, enjoy reading true crime books!! I have read so many that the titles escape me sometimes. But I almost always remember a story. I am currently reading the story of Velma Barfield. If you'd like to discuss good reads via e-mail, please feel free to e-mail me! gatorsbuddy@tds.net

Deadly 'disturbing' Movie depicts killer couple By CP TORONTO -- Hollywood has gotten its hands on the notorious story of convicted killers Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. A film called Deadly will be out next April, just three months before Homolka is set for release from a Quebec maximum-security prison, the Toronto Star reported yesterday. Los Angeles-based Quantum Entertainment describes the movie as "the incredible true story of Canada's most lethal couple." The actor playing Homolka comes from That 70s Show, and Los Angeles and California stand in for Toronto and other Ontario locations. A poster for the film shows a wedding portrait of the couple. "This is really disturbing," Tim Danson, the lawyer who represented the families of slain schoolgirls Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy, told the Star.
