Hi Danielle. In your letter you would want to express why you feel he would be a good candidate for parole (good conduct, length of time in prison, accomplishments while in prison, etc.). Just put yourself in his shoes. What would you say to a group of people to reclaim your freedom? Of course, it would all need to be factual. Does this help at all?

When I wrote to the parole board for my boyfriend, I just stated that he would have a place to come home to and the his family and I had already found him job and express just exactly how you feel about him and why you think its a good idea for him to be released! Good luck!

One of the things the Parole Boards in most states put a lot of weight on is whether or not the applicant has strong family and community support.

Most Parole Boards are facing recidivism rates of 40% and higher, so they are looking for anything that will help an applicant avoid becoming part of that statistic. They have a place to live, they have financial support until they can find work, they have people who will encourage them to avoid whatever addictive behaviours they may have had in the past...that is what will have the most positive impact upon them.

Good luck with it.

Just my thoughts

Tom
