Hello hello! I've been reading this board plus the ads for a while and I've finally decided to answer a few of them last night. But what I wanted to know is... As you'll probably find out by reading this , English is not my first language, not even my second one. A lot of Inmates wrote on their ad that they don't care about having pals oversea... but what in the facts? It's a lot more expensive and to be honnest, I often have troubles to explain what I really think about complex subjects such as politic etc and I'm affraid to appear completly stupid. What do you reckon is the tolerance level for that?? And do Inmates really write to oversea pals?? Thanks!!!

Welcome, some inmates want to correspond with overseas pen-pals, but some don't - due to the expense. You can always offer to help with postage if you really want a certain pal to write you. You sound like you have a pretty decent grasp of the language to me - have fun!

Hi. I have found my 0/S pen pals to be remarkedly tolerant about the differences in culture/language etc. They seem to enjoy all these little differences. I am sure you will be welcomed as a pen pal. Stamps,(the cost) and the time it takes for letters is the only problem I have found. Well, its not easy to visit either! Good luck with the writing.

Welcome to WAP.You will do just fine. Most inmates are very interested in other cultures and languages.Your english is fine, but I know what you mean, since english isn't mine first language. Good luck to you.

Welcome to WAP! You'll do fine! In fact, you type better than some English-as-a-first language speakers I know. LOL None of my penpals like politics so I've yet to discuss it. I think the differences in culture/language would be charming. HOPPY writing!

and welcome!! My friend/pal, Fonz writes to a Pal overseas. They've been writing for sometime and they have a great correspondence from what i understand. He's learned so much about other cultures, she's been a very positive influence on him when he's needed it! go for it!! *smiles*

Heya! Babe to start off with, yor english is fine, you ain't got a shred of worry on that topic. I write to my guy from overseas, and there are a few things that are different. For one, the postage is more expensive, admittedly, but the gap between letters is longer - one letter a month is the norm - so it kind of evens out. However the back-and-forth time *can* get wearing, which is why some inmates don't like writing overseas, simply because it means they won't get much mail!! As for culture differences etc. You have absolutely no need to worry! I find they love hearing about anthing new, or just something that breaks the monotony of *their* day. Good Luck!! Helbling
