One of my pals is an artist. Texas, in it's wisdom, is now banning all nude photos, art books, magazines PLUS he cannot draw the human body...(the human body is not obscene.

Firstly....there have been a couple of Artists that have gone to court and won, because depicting the human body nude, is not obscene, which in turn denies him of his 1st Amendment rights.

I'm sent an e-mail to National Campaign for Freedom of Expression...

Can any one....give me people to contact...Names...addresses...someone that can help...

PLEASE....this is very important, and I don't ask for help too often.

THough i don't have any names off hand of who to contact, i just wanted to agree that the naked body isn't obscene. I babysit for a couple who has some really interesting tastes and in the bathroom is a portrait of naked men and women spelling out... "Obscenity is in the eye of the beholder" Its a really great picture! I hope you can help your pp out Nade! good luck!

I am not a native Texan but, do live here for awhile now, how about just a good attny found on the Texas Bar Association would take the case one starting looking for a case may work at fair price or none only on winning? Tx is off the wall here I sure agree, if the human body is indecent why the heck are we born nude to being with????????????

Has your pal personally had any trouble with this new rule? Texas based their policy on the one used by the FBOP. Artistic materials may still be allowed.

Form the TDCJ website:

"Publications constituting educational, medical, scientific, or artistic materials, including but not limited to, anatomy medical reference books, general practitioner reference books and/or guides, National Geographic, or artistic reference material depicting historical, modern and/or post modern art era, may be permitted on a case-by-case basis."

I've been looking for some info to help you out and there doesn't seem to be much out there on the internet as far as this new ruling! I do have a couple links and a Yahoo support group so maybe you can email me and I can send it to you? I know I'll get in trouble for posting the info on here! I have 3 pen-pals in Texas, and I greatly admire your efforts to help out!!
