I am new here and first want to say hello to everyone. I have been reading the forums for awhile and have finally decided to write two people;, however, I am now having second thoughts. I was reading some posts that suggested I only use a post office box. I do not want trouble for myself or my family but where I live a post office box is very expensive and I could not afford that. So now what? Don't write? Use my real address, which I had planned on using all along? I do not want to deprive my friendship to people who could use it and quite frankly it could be the only positive part of their day for now. Any suggestions?

Personally I would never give them my physical address esspecially right off the bat! I am not sure what you should do maybe save for a pobox or something.

I have always used my personal addresses but that is just me. Some people feel uncomtable, but I have never had a problem. If you want to talk more send me a PM.

im actually also new to this and i found someone who i want to write to & i even wrote my first letter to him but i dont know whether or not to use my address

This is probably not the most popular opinion but do what YOU feel comfortable with.

I am new here also....but my opinion is that you should NEVER give out your actual address when you first meet someone whether you meet them online or at a local bar. So I would definitely never use my real address to correspond with someone in jail. I already have a PO Box so that is what I'm using for the 3 that I have sent mail to so far. I think PO Boxes are relatively inexpensive. Small price to pay to keep yourself safe but at the same time offer friendship to someone that could use it.

I use my personal address I have never had a problem....Then again I am writing someone on DR so chances of anything happening are slim to none

i am also using my po box i have a daughter and i am not quite confortable on using my real address

I got a regular P.O. Box at my post office which was $42/year. I guess if you live in Manhattan or Los Angeles or something it could run into a lot more. What about those UPS stores or something? Your profile doesn't say where you are otherwise I'd have given it a go.

I'm a VERY trusting person, but I did approach this with caution.
