Default Money orders sent to AZ inmate?

I have a pp with a birthday coming up next month and want to drop a small amount of money into his account for him. Do you know if I can include it in his letter and the mail room will pull it for him or do I have to mail it somewhere special? (He's in Lewis.)

Thanks!

hello doll.. i write too two girls but in different prisons and from what ive learned no you cant send cash direct,,, normally you have to ask your penpal for a trustfund deposit slip .. but what i would do is check the web site off the prison were he is that will give you all the info you need

Doll, if you would like to send money to an inmate at the Lewis complex, you have to send a money order, cashiers check etc., it cannot be a personal check or cash, since that will be returned to you. This cannot be send to the inmate directly. You have to send it to: Complex Business Office
Inmate Banking
ASPC - LEWIS
PO Box 70
Buckeye, AZ, 85326
and they then deposit it to his account. On the money order you have to make it payable to ADC for the account of (inmates name and DOC number). Or if you do live in Arizona, you can go personally to the prison and drop it of at the office there. Hope this helps!!!

or you just put the money order addressed to the adoc in care of the imates name and number in a regular letter and they will send him a slip to decide what account to put it in
they are notified they have funds to disperse when the letter is recieved

Some DOCs require a deposit slip along with the check. I know that South Carolina has one that you can print out on your printer, but with Texas, you have to request one, either from the DOC or your PP.
You might want to check the AZ DOC website to see if they give any instructions.

I just put the postal money order into the envelope with the letter to my pen pal in Arizona. I make the money order out to my pal. I have never included a deposit slip. I have been doing this for the past 8 months. He has always gotten the money....

Same here bigdog. Ours in PA just take money orders or Western Union. Never a mention about deposit slips.

Doll, you can also send the money order inside the letter you send to you PP.
They will take it out at inspection and deposit it into his or her account.

Sorry for the confusion. Meant to actually say that cash or personal checks cannot be send to the inmate directly. But the money orders can!!!! There is no problem with that.
