Hey all... Hope all of you are having a great day!!

I got some trial transcript mail today on one of my pen pals and he wanted me to look at it. Seems to be interesting but I have my hands full with some stuff for Manny.... anyways.... I need to know if anyone here knows anything about the "Interstate Detainer Act". Specifically this would be regarding a case and arrest in Kentucky and the inmate being moved to ALabama. I don't know if that makes a difference or not... but I just thought I would put that out there.

The interstate detainer act recognizes that a rehabilitation program (allegedly) begins at the time an individual becomes incarcerated. Thus, if any other actions occur (other trials) it will interfere with the rehabilatative process. As a result the act says that if there are any other outstanding warrants against an individual they must be proceeded upon within 180 days of the knowledge of the legal jurisdiction that the defendant is in custody. If it is not acted upon in that time period the actions are barred.

I lost a case with an admitted (he confessed) child molester because he sent a letter to the prosecutor's office telling us he was incarcerated and we did not begin our actions within the 180 day period.
