Default Legal advice?

I am writing on behafe of a friend of mine who has been married for 3 yrs to her husband, she wants to know if there is any legal advice she can get because she feels as if her whole marraige has been a lie. she just found out her husband is a 3 time felon for doing white collar crimes. he has gotten her evicted from her home for not paying morgage payments but blamed it on the morgage company he told her they won a large settelment but my friend never saw the money because it never excisted...He took their tax money and spent it he cashed her paychecks and forged them he lied about everything, He was arrested in feb for writing a bad check on her new jeep ( he stole this money from his job)he let their apartment rent go unpaid for 4 monthes it is amazing that someone could do this to somebody they are suposse to spend eternity with.
everyone attorneys police ect ..are saying she should have protected yourself better but isnt there any organization or SOMETHING that can help her?? can he be sued by her and if so for what...does she have any rights at all? He even took out her 401k money and forged her name on that.
any advice will help, we have no idea who to notify. she is now living with her parents and 2 children ...she has lost everything because of this man she is homeless has no car and needs a job because she works for the school and just can not make ends meet. I feel awful for her. he has done alot more to her as far as stealing ect but it would take all night to write ..the bad thing is everything just started snowballing this last week when she found out about it all...she now has a resraing order against him because she was afraid he would wiggle himself back into her life, she said in the beginning she had so much control but eventually she had none...she didnt even have a mail box key and he kept changing her cell phone number so creditors and bill collecters could never call..he always blamed it on the cell phone company...this man scammed her he was very belivable and likeable they are married she thought she could TRUST her husband, she was wrong! like I said if you can offer any info on who she can call please let me know so I can help her.

I beleive she can go to a high court on a civil case and receive some are all of her money back if she proves this to the judge Gilly. It depends on the state I think. I know a woman here who sued her husband over bills that were his in her name and the judge granted her the money plus some for the suffering he had caused her. I hope that helps you.

Gilly, I'm sorry to hear that your friend has had to go through all of this. I can only imagine how she is feeling. I don't have any advice, I would hate to say the wrong thing but I just wanted to let you know I hope everything works out for her. She's lucky to have you as her friend. =)
Kell..xoxo

yikes Gilly, that is a terrible story. Your frind is very lucky to have your support.

I found myself in a similar situation once upon a time. Although my husband at the time, did not forge my signature on anything, so I can't offer any advice in that area. What he did do was destroy "our" credit and it was a nightmare and took years to repair. One piece of advice for your firend right now is to make a list of every financial obligation she and her husband have that also has her name on it- and contact these institutions to see if she can extend her terms of payment until she gets back on her feet. She needs to do this as soon as she is able, this husband of hers has destroyed almost everything- at this point- she needs to SAVE her credit. Hopefully she can recoup the money he basically took from her, but at this point she must protect what she has- her credit. I can't emphasize enough how important that is- and I know this, from learning it the hard way!

Keep us posted on how your friend is doing.

Her best bet would probably be trying to get him held responsible for the forgery. She will in all likelyhood never recoup the money, but maybe she could get his butt locked up.

He even took out her 401k money and forged her name on that.

This is a CRIME. Call the cops/DA ASAP. Whether she will get any money back or not depends on whether he actually has any. If it's spent, it's spent.
